Interesting take on the team.
Can't disagree with:
"
If you wanted to judge a team just on their elite and quality starters, than you would consider the Dolphins one of the worst teams in the league. There are only four teams with one or fewer elite/quality starters with Cameron Wake being the only one in Miami."

Grimes should be mentioned in the same breath with Wake. And Vernon certainly played well enough to call him a quality starter. But in fairness to a few players, I think poor coaching and poor scheming makes some look worse than they are: Soliai, Starks, Wallace.

Yet they begin with:

Last offseason the Dolphins went on a spending spree bringing in a few big name free agents like Mike Wallace, Phillip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe. The new players along with a strong sophomore season from Ryan Tannehill helped lead Miami to be a competitive team in an up-and-down season with a disappointing finish.

Competitive then one of the worst teams based on "elite" players. If anything that goes to show that if they were competitive without elite players that elite players are overrated.

How many elite players do the Patriots have?

Exactly.

Well our punter must be crap.
Even in an off year i would still take MP at center.
Grimes top 3 corner in the league on my list.

And Seattle too.

More about finding players to fit the system.

Pats have mastered this for the past 10 years. Take average guys that have a specific trait that your system requires.

****, Pats pretty much changes the way teams view schemes. 5'8 100lb WR's that are so quick and agile in direction change these big LB's and CB's can't even keep up.

Point is, it's not about how many "elite" players you have but what position those "elite" playeys play.

Elite QB, Elite Pass Rusher, Elite CB is really all you need in todays NFL.

the qb will be in the elite category soon...all that matters pretty much

The chart show low quality players is a bigger problem than lack of elites.

Agreed!

How many elite players do the Patriots have?

Exactly.

They have ONE elite player at the right position.

I hope so.

The chart and OP are somewhat misleading, as PFF does not include any of our FA's in the projected lineup. If they did, I guarantee Grimes would be elite, and maybe ever Starks.

They also list players with the potential for a change in class. Pouncey, Wallace, Odrick, and Jones are those who they believe can go to high quality starters, and they also list Ellerbe, Miller and Matthews with the potential to go beyond a below average starter.

They have 6 of our starters listed as unknown due to FA's not being included.
