Am I missing something with Baker? Don't see that one.

Overall, much better grades from the offensive line than a year ago. That's a huge positive.
No clue how PFF grades, but it’s almost impossible to play as many snaps as Baker has played this year and have as little positive impact as he’s had.

  • If you group Howard, Chubb, Byron Jones, Cedric Wilson, Emanuel Ogbah, Mike Gesicki deals together we have approximately $90MM in annual contracts that are under-performing or not available.
  • Of Top 5 PFF rated players, only one (Hill) is not playing on a rookie contract. Will need a skilled capologist to navigate these signings if we intend to keep everyone.
  • 11 starters are in the top 75th percentile of PFF rankings; not too shabby

And in group 1, X obviously had a better season than we want to believe as he’s a first team all pro. And he got in with no fan help so…. Wilson and Gesicki I can’t figure why they weren’t used. Ogbah had a good opening day then hurt his back and was a non factor. Byron Jones - disappointing. Chubb - not sure what we have in him yet.

On O, 5 in the top 20%. I'd call it 6 - TT belongs there.
On D, 4 in the top 20%. Don't know about X due to injuries, but he's not at the bottom third.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but X isn’t first-team All Pro, he’s starting in the Pro Bowl. I believe those are two different things.

The Pro Bowl is based partially on fan voting. The All Pro team is selected by the AP, and I don’t think that happens until after the season.

I think I’m right, and my point being that someone being voted in to start in the Pro Bowl is not necessarily an indication that the player had a great year; it’s also based on reputation.

Reputation plays a role for sure but my point is he didn’t do too well in fan voting which means the guys who play against him and game plan against him carried the vote. Not sure about probowl vs all pro - you’re probably right. He’s 1 of 2 CBs selected to start in the pro bowl

Why? Do you believe he has played poorly from an assignment soundness perspective?

Ppl do a lot of complaining about Baker. Some is warranted. Most is not.
Although he is not some sort of one man wrecking crew, he is a good, sound football player.
