PFF Ranks Phins Roster #6 In AFC

With the question at QB, the most important position on the team, I can't see the Browns being ranked that high.

I do think it is about right where our Phins are slotted.

I don’t get the browns either. Their wide outs are bottom of the league, outside of amari they are pretty sad. Aside from Garrett and Ward there’s not much talent on defense either. Think everyone knows by now that Watson won’t play the whole season if at all. Their run game is great but aside from that nothing else is near the top of the league. I’m taking our roster over Cleveland even without the question marks about Watson.

Agreed on both points. That's a best case scenario ranking for the Browns, not a "where they stand today" ranking. Not enough fire power on offense to justify being ahead of the Chiefs or Bengals. As great as I believe Watson is (he's exceptional), Burrow is better.

Miami at 6 is solid given we haven't put it all together yet. It's subject to change obviously but there is no reason we should be above the Chiefs or Bengals, either.

Should be a fun, competitive season in which Chris Simms gets exposed as a football analyst.

Nice to see us getting some respect. In reality, we do have a very solid roster.

Though I see right off the bat (of the teams ahead), I believe Miami is better then then a few, along with a few others that I think it's kind of obvious Miami might or will do better then, I thinks it's pretty fair.

FTR...
Better:
1. Miami has been as good or better then then the Chargers the last 2 years, and Miami Arguably had a much better offseason, but still Chargers better then Miami?

2. Cleveland lead by possibly Brissett, better then Miami?

Miami might be better if you think about it:

1. KC barely beat Miami at full Strength when Tua had a huge 4th quarter, now Miami might come close to matching them on Offense with a much better defense.

2. Cincinnati went to the SB with just enough Offense, and a great Defense, yet Miami was hotter going into those final regular season games (What could have been if Miami had reached the playoffs). Miami can match the defensive intensity on Defense, while having more weapons on offense then the Bengals.

hmmm the chargers have the 2nd best roster yet still won’t make the playoffs.

Right. No more excuses, Justin Herbert. Lol.

That’s what we always hear about Tua, who through last season has had far less surrounding talent.

IMO at least one of those 4 AFC West teams will be on the outside looking in. With all the extreme hype they’re getting I’d LMFAO if it were the Chargers on the outside.

RE: The Chargers - Cmon. Don't be silly. Pretending that Justin Herbert alone doesn't make them a top 3 is absolutely silly. They've got a ton of talent and some of it is top tier level -> all pro pass rusher, all pro extra young QB, and some freakishly great WRs. This isn't surprising - media loves certain things.

Then why is Herbert 15-17 as the starting QB?

I can tell you why. Because your statement is patently false. If it were true, the 15-17 record wouldn't exist. Period.

But it does.

So the actual truth is, your statement is the only thing qualifying as "absolutely silly" and "pretending".

Like ALL starting QB's, Justin Herbert needs help. And with the acquisitions they've made -- "no more excuses". ;)

That's about where I'd put Miami. In the playoff hunt. I'd also have Buffalo #1. Seems high for the Chargers.

The Chargers ranking is HIGH. As in "stoned".

That team was 9-8 last season. And missed the postseason. Just like MIAMI.

The acquisitions they've made, just like MIAMI, are unknowns at this point in time.

They may make them a lot better or perhaps they may not have the impact many believe.

When it comes to the Dolphins, most seem to have the attitude of "I'll believe it when I see it". Seems only fair to apply that same logic to the Chargers, no?

You clearly get it. By thinking logically.

That ranking must assume Watson is available

I guess there is no concrete reason to assume he won't be at this point. The league hasn't exactly been forthcoming with its plans.

They have seen statistically very good seasons back to back from a prototypical QB with the Chargers. They have not seen that from Miami.

Not commenting on the fairness or validity of that line of thinking, only that it exists, and is likely the reason for the disparity. It is what it is.
