In Indianapolis, Zimmer has emerged as a candidate to replace the fired head coach Jim Caldwell. And in Tampa Bay, Zimmer is one of the candidates to replace the fired head coach Raheem Morris. So there are at least a couple of struggling teams that think he could be the man to turn the franchise around.
But while Zimmer was once a candidate in Miami, the Dolphins have decided to move on to the next round of interviews without Zimmer, and the Miami Herald reports that one source said Zimmer might have been too blunt and honest for the Dolphins’ liking.
It is true that Zimmer is known for speaking his mind, particularly in regard to his time coaching on the Falcons’ staff under Bobby Petrino, who quit during the season to coach at Arkansas. Zimmer called Petrino “a gutless bastard” and “a coward” who “didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job.”
I’m no NFL owner, but that’s the kind of blunt honesty I love to see in a coach.

Zimmer was my personal favorite for the job here too...

This isn't sunday school...it's the NFL dammit! I want a blunt badboy coach leading the troops onto the battlefield!

Rex Ryan is blunt too. That is different than being up front and honest. It may sound nuanced, but when you are too blunt, you wear out your welcome after a short time. There is a diplomatic way of doing things when you are the top guy.

Time to move on from Zimmer but what about Billick?

Too bad the three stooges conducting interviews don't want that. They want butt kissers and yes men to tell them how great everything is going when this franchise continues on its downward spiral

Why do people want Billick?
He won a super bowl 12 years ago. 12 years! He was supposed to be an offensive genius but he won with defense. And a defense that he inherited to boot. I just don't understand the Billick love around here...

if ross doesnt want someone who blunt and tells the truth about how he feels, ross needs to hire a politician they will tell him whatever he wants to hear.
