From PFT:

Word out of South Florida is that the Dolphins are convinced that defensive tackle Larry Chester won't be able to make it back from chronic knee problems.

The issue, we're told, is that some in the building think that Chester is trying to create the appearance that he can and will make it back, in order to pocket an injury settlement if/when the team decides to cut him loose.

Last week, defensive tackle Tim Bowens left the team after accepting the reality that his back won't let him to continue to play. To address the loss of Bowens and apparent eventual departure of Chester, the team could select USC defensive tackle Manuel Wright in the July 14 supplemental draft. Wright is visiting Philly on June 16, Cincy on June 17, and he is scheduled to visit the Fins on June 23 and 24.

This is the first we've heard of the team being convinced that Chester can't make it back (allegedly).

Did anyone who was at mini-camp see Chester running...I thought I read somewhere that Chester was running but did not participate in drills.

I was afraid of that.I believe this rumor is true.Saban has been acting as if neither Bowens or Chester would be coming back although Chester is going through the motions of coming back.

He was riding the stationary bike most of the time when I was there. He also was wearing his MiniCamp Uniform. He even was walking around with the other D-lineman as they did their drills. It really looked as if he were planning on playing this year.

He looked good for someone recovering from a torn acl. He was riding the bike and walking around. He wasn't grimacing or anything, and he didn't look in pain.

Another wait and see case..boy our DL is getting avg fast, provided this is true.

if this rumors tru we better hope JT and Kevin Carter get in the Backfield fast...

The two practices I was at he was on the eliptical (sp?) trainer for 30 minutes a day. I also saw him do some light jogging on the side. He stood around w/ the DLine for the rest of practice but was dressed up.

I came away with the impression that he was going to be ready to go.

This would be bad news but fortunately it's only PFT and not Chester's agent saying this.

Plus it would contradict an interview he conducted earlier this summer when he said he was definitely coming back..
