PFT: Chester Could Be Angling for Injury Settlement

Lets be fair to the guy. He was awesome in 2003, and like Muck said, before he tore his ACL last year he was a monster, his weight was down and he was pushing guards around like shopping carts. Granted, he always looked alot better because of Bowens but I honestly do not think he is done. At Minicamp I saw him on the bike for about a half an hour, then he did some very light jogging for a few minutes but he looked to be in pain. I think(not sure) I saw him walking through some drills. I know first hand, a torn ACL is a hell of an injury, I played Sam linebacker when I tore mine covering a tight end. Everybody thinks its an injury that can heal in 6-8 months, myself included at that time. I understand that the scenarios are 99.99999% differant but you gotta give the guy the benefit of the doubt, its a tough injury to come back from and if I tryed to jog at minicamp nine months after my injury I would be in tears. Its the kind of injury where get to the point that you can walk and you think it wont be long before you can go 100%, wrong again. It may take him until shortly before opening day to be ready. Then you get into value and if he will be worth what we are paying him I cannot answer that. Probably not. I think it is best for the franchise to pick up Wright, regardless of Chester

At best I don't want to see more then a 3rd rounder spent on Wright and that may even be too much. Were talking about a TWO game starter here who is getting very overrated.

If Vernon Carey works out well at LT then we should be able to go out and spend the first or second picks next year on DT and pick up a FA. Strangely enough we got some OK young depth in Romero and Vickerson at least.
