PFT: Dolphins emphasizing tempo on offense

I think we should all expect growing pains.

But this idea that you're afraid to utilize a system that gives you an advantage - puts the D on its heels, forces them to play more basic coverages, limits substitutions, etc. - because IF we don't do well, our D can get tired?

To me, that sounds like some Dan Henning bull****. Play not to lose. **** that. Philbin and co. know that the NFL is about WINNING football games. Are we going to win more games than we lose this season? Maybe. But we're installing something. We're building something. There are specific times where you limit your losses, but if your overall outlook is to limit losses, you're going to go through life consistently losing.

Totally agree with the sentiment of this, JOHD.

On the other hand, if you take too long for it to win games for you, opponents will adjust and counteract and you'll lose the first-mover advantage. At least it's aggressive and it's taking initiative, instead of the turgid same-ol' that Sparano served up.

good points...i'm just saying i don't know how fast paced you can run this offense with garrard and matt moore under center...neither strikes me as those rapid fire consistent guys...but we'll see

When I heard that the Dolphins were focusing on tempo the biggest thing that popped into my mind was hoping that meant that they wouldn't start the season so sluggish like last year...
