PFT: Dolphins emphasizing tempo on offense

If there are 3 and outs, it will get ugly for the defense.

That is my FEAR as well. Little nervous about that possibility, particularly against a team like the Patriots who seem to be an uptempo offense too. Can anyone recall how the Packers looked as it relates to tempo?

Peace.......

True tru true

But who was Jordy Nelson before he beca,e Jordey Nelson? Who was Jennings before he became Jennings? Now I'm no dummy I know we dont have neither of them on our roster but you have to start some place. Who knows maybe we find a special player in that large group of recievers that we have.

greg jennings has been legit since pretty much day 1...way more legit than anything we have...who has jordy nelsons upside in miami right now??? it's not there...i read some hartline comparisons on here prior and almost peed myself

i guess it's always possible one of the rooks could pop off the screen in pads for us...

we dont know who has upside because its July 10th...training camp didnt start yet, preseason games didnt begin....give it time man. You need to be a little patient. Were not gonna have all the answers we want about players on July 10th after only no pad mini-camps. Weve got alot of young guys competing for spots. Teams have players come out of nowhere all the time, im not saying thats going to happen but it does happen. Wait until preseasons over before you completely write off every single receiver on our roster as garbage. I personally think Hartline and Bess will excel in this offense. It fits their skill sets. Both smart players who run good routes with good hands.

In 2007 Garrard was efficient at moving the chains, Jax was 3rd at time of Possession
In 2008 Garrard led the Jags to 8th best time of possesion.
In 2009 Garrard led the jags to the 19th best time of possesion
In 2010 garrard led the Jags to the 4th best time of possesion.

In those 4 years the Jags alsways had the ball more than their opposition.

Garrard has shown he knows how to move the chains.

That was because they had a good running game with MJD. They were playing much like a Sparano offense. This is going to be completely different. Garrard didn't get those stats with an "up-tempo" offense.

i know what kind of upside the returning guys have...clay maybe being the exception right now...and by and large it's not good enough...i mean bess and hartline have been in the league for 3 or more years now...we've seen every snap for them in that time period...you should know by now what they got if you really want to know...same for fasano...nothings gonna change as to what he brings to the table at this stage...these guys are what they are...and it's not enough in this league

You still have to complete the 3rd down pass to move the chains. And Garrard did that each an every year.

did you guys watch jax with garrard prior to him getting hurt last year and missing the season??? even before he was hurt that offense was stagnant as hell...bla...boring...you name it...and thats not all because they didn't have weapons or the oc stunk...it's cause the qb was pretty dang average also...

And to go one step further.

2006 jags 46% 3rd down conversion 6th best
2007 jags 41% 3rd down conversion 16th best
2008 jags 45% 3rd down conversion 4th best
2009 jags 40% 3rd down conversion 13th best.

It wasn't all the running game. Garrard had to make throws to move the chains.

Wanna take a guess at what we were last year?
Miserable 33 %

The jets made the afc championship game twice with a below average to average qb

We saw these guys in a tony sparano-dan henning-brian daboll ground and pound offenses that never used its players to their strengths. The offense had chad henne...who had brandon marshall screaming at him for the ball all the time. This year we will really see what bess and hartline are capable of. They fit into an offense that spreads the ball around. They're no andre or calvin johnson but bess and hartline are reliable receivers who would probably find a starting job on a lot of offenses in the league. Their talents have been severely underutilized here so far.

My point about sanchez was he had a lot more talent on the jets than the jags ever had...so an average qb could succeed with a good supporting cast.

that jets supporting cast was much better than good...that d was LEGIT...that running game was LEGIT...the oline played well...that team played well...i mean yeah if you're looking for can a average qb carry you to the cusp of the super bowl on occasion sure it happens...but you won't make a living with average qbs and average skill position talent...somethings gotta be elite whether it be the defense the offense the qb...something

During Garrards career in games he has started the jags have averaged scoring 21.5 points per game.

While not at the top of the league it is hardly boring.
