PFT: Dolphins hope Branden Albert can play in preseason

cant wait for him to be forced to play in preseason by our awful coach and he gets injured.

Exactly. Our HC needs to be quiet. Let Albert heal and don't rush.

Reading the article first would be helpful.

“The hope is — and once we get guys through physicals when they come in in a couple days we’ll know more — but the hope is to move him out of the rehab portion and into the football portion,” Philbin said, via the Miami Herald. “And we have to do it in a way that makes sense. It’s not going to be first day, every team rep, here we go, let’s do an Oklahoma drill and let him and the guys whack people around. That’s step one. Getting him out of the rehab mode and into the football practice mode and in the gradual progression of getting back.

Trust me , Philbin wouldn't play him if he wasn't ready .

If there is someone who wants a healthy Albert it's him . Job on the line this year for coach Philbin...

Albert has set the first game of the regular season as his timetable for returning to the field. Philbin is perhaps a bit more optimistic because the coach is thinking Albert could play in the preseason.

"The perfect scenario is get him some work in some preseason game and get him ready to play first," Philbin said.

Philbin is talking about scenarios. Though it is encouraging to hear, I highly doubt there will be any urgency to rush Albert back on the field.

On one hand, the risk of sending him out before he is ready, for a damn preseason game.

On the other hand, the risk of injury to your starting quarterback because your backup left tackle is... ???

Not only that but a real shot! Is there anyone outside of the pats that scares you in the AFC? Maybe the broncs but peyton could be done at any moment this season. The arc north is good but no great teams. Plus they'll hammer each other worse than the east will. If we can stay healthy the pieces are there for a surprise deep playoff run.

Can we just skip preseason? After Keller it just scares me.

I'm more excited this year than I Ever have been .

Tannehill will prove to be a top QB in the league this year . Forget tier two , I think he's going to end up close to tier 1 after this season.

Can't wait for this season to start

I'm by no means a Philbin fan. Everyone knows I do not think he is HCing material, but having said that there are several, even many things Joe does well. Joe has been around football long enough to understand injuries and I trust him to make these types of decisions. He will not push him out of the nest too early IMO. He also understands there is a much bigger risk if he just throws him to the wolves on opening day without a little PT.

To me this is great news that Albert is this close to being ready. I was not sure he was that far along. I think Joe will do what he feels is best for the team and I trust those types of decisions from him. He is a smart football guy, he just isn't aggressive enough to play to win rather than playing not to lose. I like Joe and would love to have him as an assistant. I just hate him as HC. Just because a person sucks at one thing does not mean he can't be good at other things.

If he plays, it's fine as long as he's healthy. You don't want to rush him back for a meaningless preseason game.

If Albert doesn't play or practice at all - For game 1 vs the Redskins, in what physical shape or form will he be in? How effective will he be on the field?

Ryan Kerrigan will eat him alive!!!
