PFT: Ireland’s role ultimately sent Fisher to St. Louis

And you consider Ireland to be good? Apart from Long (#1 pick - no brainer), list for me all of our future HOF'er and All pro selections that he has drafted...

(crickets chirping)

That's not what I said. Work on your comprehension. Try reading the post again. I can't dumb it down anymore than it is.

All this Ross and Ireland bashing is premature BS IMO. Let us not forget that it was Huizenga who hired Parcells, who in turn hired Sparano the clown, a guy who couldn't coach up an All-Pro team. He was the main reason we have sucked for 3 years running. They ditched Sparano, and low and behold, the team was hailed as playing some of the best ball in the AFC toward the end of the season.

Even the most ardent Ireland haters have to admit that the first draft he conducted himself, without Parcells interceding to pick players like Pat White, is looking pretty decent.

As for Ross, the guy hasn't even hired his first coach yet. I swear sometimes I think the hate for this guy is bc he looks goofy. He has shown he will spend money on players and go after the most attractive head coaching candidates available. What more do you want at this point from him? This guy believes in Ireland, and he ain't stupid. Now I know all the bloggers in their underpants, living w their Mom's think this billionaire is a fool, but let's give the guy at least the chance to hire his people.

Thank god for Ireland now we dont have to overpay for Fisher and can get someone younger and hungry. Fisher wanted to come here for the money plain and simple. He wanted to be in st louis all along and thats his "reason" why he went to st louis when everyone said he was going there all along. Fisher won 3 division titles in 17 years not missing out on anything special. Better than what we had in Sparano is all

Looks like you'll get your wish. Get psyched for the Bears' special teams coach to be our new coach :tubes:

Here's the thing. It was obvious both Ireland and fisher wanted final say and it seems Ireland was adamant about it also. Well we can understand why fisher wanted it. He didnt want a Vince young situation again. But what about Ireland? Why was he so adamant about it? Just speculating here but maybe he didn't want a parcells situation again. Maybe he didn't want somebody overruling his choices like parcells did. Just like fisher didn't want another Vince young maybe Ireland didn't want another pat white.

Chad Henne was definitely a parcells type qb. Who knows how many picks Ireland was overruled on and if it was many, including future busts, it's understandable why he wouldn't want a coach to have that power. I mean at least ireland was a scout. What qualifications does fisher have to select personnel?

If I was Ireland and I just got out of a situation where a coach(and essentially parcells is a coach) kept making bad pick over back pick in overruling me. I wouldn't want another coach coming in doing essentially the same thing. I look at this as Irelands first year with having full autonomy and it wasn't bad. In fact I thought it was pretty good. If he feels he finally is able to build how he wants to I would fight to hold that power too.

Again. I'm just speculating here

I comprehend just fine. I answered you in the context of the thread. Do you understand what that means?

A good GM is worth his weight in gold? Agreed. Miami Dolphins GM...Ireland...mediocre at best IMHO.

GM's are a dime a dozen. Get a clue. Great head coaches are rare.

I asked you a question and you completely missed it. You should get your eyes checked.

A great QB will make a whole organization look good.... Thats what you need to find... Cause if you dont have one, than everything else starts to look like a dime a dozen...

Nice, very nice. Until I read this post I was completely against Ireland, and thought he was a joke. This post has made me think you could be on to something. Thinking that in our past drafts have been mostly busts, because he was overruled, how can you blame him for past drafts, and his current train of thought now.

Other things that make you go Hmm? Why do they have braille numbers at drive up ATM's?

"at best', the most overused phrase on this site. Fact of the matter is that YOU don't have enough evidence to draw that conclusion. In reality, Ireland did pretty good in his 1st draft without anyone overruling him.
