PFT: NFL says Roethlisberger lateral was legal

The fascination with a portion of a play that is irrelevant to the outcome of a game getting this much attention is unreal.

Forensic football, lol.

Get some popcorn and enjoy the show. It won't last long.

Everyone has been asking me the same question this week: "Why are you not happy? You guys won."

In the words of Pat Riley, there is a fine line between misery and victory. We embraced that fine line on Sunday. We could have easily have lost in that fashion but Brown stepped out of bounds. My heart and jaw were on the floor and I haven't recovered since. I hope we convincingly defeat the Patriots this weekend!

the nfl likes to think that it's fans are stupid...and yeah they got an awful lot of stupid ones for sure...but they don't mention the wrs never being set on the play first of all and a blown call there and say that's indisputable when it's forward all day long...

it's typical bs...

You know, I have not been all pumped about the win this week myself, I'm glad someone else said that. My confidence about the Dolphins is higher, but I think knowing we were inches from blowing in a dramatic fashion a game we would have won has taken the wind out of me a little. Though an inch here and there happens and costs games, e.g. coming up short for a first down on a drive and punting it away, where maybe that one inch gets you a first and leads to a field goal that would have been the difference later in a two point game.
It's just the drama of it, I guess.

I'm out on saying any ref on that field deserves any credit for anything. That play should have never happened because two plays before it Ben fumbled while getting sacked and the refs blew that call. They themselves are supposed to review it because it was a change of possession in the last 4 minutes of a half. I cannot stress enough the level of sheer incompetence and lack of professionalism the refs displayed all season in Dolphin games. On the field you have Steeler players sticking their hands up Dolphin player's behinds, giving vicious hits after the play, fumbling and then giving the Steelers the ball back, allowing the Steelers to have a play when they are not set at the line of scrimmage, and then failing to call an obvious forward illegal lateral. Now I am supposed to be grateful that a ref actually did his job? The NFL and their officiating can put it where the sun don't shine!

and don't get me started on the bogus INT call that gave NE their win, and possibly cost Dolphins a Division championship.....

I thought the same thing live but have not seen a replay (The NFL prob doesn't want us to)

Anyone have a link to the Ben fumble a couple plays before the last play???

I'm surprised PFT is praising the refs without even seeing the play, and that it is clearly a forward pass. The NFL is just trying to put out all of the fires the horrible officiating this year has caused, and thinks this is a game that'll work for that purpose. Makes me wonder how closely Blandino watched the replay.

That is what I got from this. Any other year and the League wouldn't have issued a statement. The fact the League has even commented on a play that was ruled dead in the end just shows you how concerned they are, and rightfully so especially with the playoffs just three weeks away. They are going to have their hands full on the off season trying to figure out how to make the officiating better for next year.

Hey, want to hear something funny, during the Heat - Spurs game, I left the sports bar with 25 seconds left in game 6. I just didn't want to hear it from everyone and certainly didn't want to see the Spurs celebrate. Maybe this will be a benchmark omen that finally gets us over the hump. Had Pittsburgh beaten us, it would have certainly made the top 5 comebacks with no times outs.
