PFT: Still hope that Pioli may be coming

I read the article too. It said that one league insider thinks that Pioli might change his thinking if Miami comes after him after the Patriots season is over.

True but it does note: One league insider whose opinion we respect believes that, when the Patriots' season ends and the Dolphins come calling, circumstances could change.
 
Did you read the article? Nothing in there to warrant this thread IMO. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to get Pioli, but saw NOTHING in that article to indicate there's ANY chance of him coming here. "Circumstances may change" is a pretty darn vague statement, I wouldn't get worked up over that.

Listen, count me as one who takes everything PFT writes with an enormous grain of salt but these guys also were the ones who broke the Saban story. At the time, I discounted it as total BS. In some ways, it really could have been BS and jsut became a story that developed on its own.
There is a dearth of hard reporting by PFT, and what they said in the peice is , as you note, nothing really significant. But stranger things have happened...
 
Pioli is obviously worth waiting for, In many ways the successs of the Patriots could be because of Pioli vs. Bellichick. Pioli has been nothing short of amazing!

Why would a guy like Piloi want to come GM the Phinz anyway? This team is a mess, and I highly doubt Pioli would have any interest in helping us rebuild this franchise....

PFT can be right about Saban because they knew how he felt on the inside and who saban is. Pioli is another thing however. They are simply taking stabs at crap on the wall then something eventually sticks and they look good somehow.

It could be as simple as being well paid to take on a new challenge, and with full GM authority he could flex his muscles a bit more. Not saying how likely it is that he'd leave New England if he's happy there, but guys who like challenges sometimes like to inherit "a mess" and show what they can do to turn it around.

Ego and $$$...if Piloi ever left the Patriots front office to come here or go somewhere else...ego and $$$ is why he would.

BB gets a lot of credit and everyone talks about what a genius he is...i'm sure the Piloi thinks to himself...it it wasn't for me BB would be nobody special.

Why would he have any interest in helping us rebuild? if the price is right and the challenge is there...I think he would leave...remember this team is not that bad...our defense was ranked #4 in the NFL...it was actually better than New England's. Just think how much better this defense would be if our offense could sustain drives and score some points.

Piloi might view this as an opportunity to start his own legacy in another town in another position and break away from always being linked to BB.

Coming from PFT I wouldn't be surprised if the "League insider" is the head janitor at Gillet Stadium.
