PFW-Scouting report Yerimah Bell

Nice read on YB. It's true he's not elite, and this is why some good talent next to the bullfrog at FS would be huge.

But I definitely don't want to lose him. He's not a vocal leader like JP, but some of the plays he makes really set the tone for this D.

He's an excellent tackler and run-stopper. Not an excellent all-around safety. He's good, and i think worthy of new contract and a spot as a starting safety on this team. Certainly there isn't any safeties on the market better than him right now (at least in my opinion). So unless you replace him with a real stud somewhere in the draft, which i wouldn't recommend since we already have so many other needs, we should keep him.

With Sean Smith playing FS along side Yeremiah I think Bell will be even more effective.
I am pretty sure he will sign and I doubt if the amounts are a problem. I suspect the Dolphins are trying to protect themselves in the event he gets injured again.

Agree with risk factor and weaknesses.

Obviously he is hard-hitting which is awesome, but we need defensive players to help win turnover battle.

Just compare Miami's defense in 2007 with our defense last year. Certainly the turnaround can't be solely because of Bell, but without question his staying healthy last year was one of the biggest reasons we improved so much. We're a different team with him on the field.

I really, really hope we sign a good FS to play alongside him.. that'll be a scary set of safeties

Yep they are working on signing him but remember the secondary did not come together unitl Hill showed up so even with the Bell signing we will be missing pieces. Then there is the CB spot too how about Goodman?

We sing Bell and Brown and things start to get tighter. Goodman wants 4mil per. Hill will want about half that knowing his worth here.

i like bell and think he will have even a better year this season i hope we resign him

i still think bell resigns with us for a reasonable contract. maybe more like hope. either way, hes definitely very solid, and a great SS in the 3-4, but hes not a game changer (no ints) and shouldnt be payed like one. hes probably top 10, but not top 5 when all aspects are taken into account (age, injury history, pass coverage). i dont see the Trifecta over paying.

and I definitely agree that Bell's performance would be amplified by the addition of a ball hawk FS. i dont care what anyone (including Tony) says, Hill is a joke back there. worst.tackler.ever

Hill usually had the secondary aligned correctly. that's why he's getting high praise by our coaches. i agree, his tackling was shaky at times though.

i don't think we'll overpay for either guy, but at the right price, both will probably be back. a lot will depend on what we're doing in the draft. if we can get Delmas at 2a, Hill might be expendable. Delmas is the complete package and he's just about as thorough in his calls as Hill.
