PFW article on Chambers

A late-season explosion helped send Chris Chambers to his first Pro Bowl in 2005 and vaulted him to the long-awaited status as one of the NFL’s top wideouts.
Chambers, who turns 28 in August, came into the league as a second-round pick of Miami in 2001. He immediately impressed with his great athletic ability, his speed, and how he plays bigger than his 5-11, 210-pound frame.
His numbers during his first four seasons were good but not great due to a revolving door at quarterback and the signalcallers’ inability to throw the deep ball and take advantage of Chambers’ great speed and his ability to adjust to the ball in the air and make plays.
Now, with three-time Pro Bowler Daunte Culpepper in South Florida, Chambers is poised to take another step up in class amongst NFL wide receivers. Though still rehabbing after a serious knee injury last October, Culpepper has already shown he has the arm strength to properly utilize Chambers.
And that fact has made Chambers and the coaching staff, particularly new offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, very happy.

Good find thanks.

I really like this part -
Chambers:
"He’s(Culpepper) so talented that he can only help me be a better receiver. If, for some reason, he can’t play, I also like the way Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon are throwing the ball. I have confidence in all three of them."

That is awesome. It appeared that only us homers on finheaven thought this way. It is good to see that others also felt that the revolving door and coaching staff led to Chamber's good but not great stats.

I was under the impression that anything PFW wrote, it was a load of garbage. When they write positive things, now it's believable?

Chambers receiving percentages: 2001- 53% 2002- 52% 2003- 49% 2004- 50% 2005-49%.

This needs to be in the 60-65% range to be considered elite... no matter who is throwing the ball...

The good news is Chambers can get better... but it's not going to be automatic... he needs to put in the work and become a more physical player on Sundays...imo

I think you may be confused with PFT... PFW is generally respectable imo...

You're thinking of PFT (Talk).

PFW (Weekly) is very respected by everyone.

That sounds like we should have high hopes all around now. I'm thinking he's goin to be ready for week 1. I just don't wanna put all my eggs into one basket just yet though. I'd like to hear some type of confirmation that it's going to be a definite possibility that Culpepper will be ready for the start of the season. If he's infact ready. Watch out this season. Chambers and C-Pep are going to light it up!

That was agood read, I think his habit of dropping easy catches can be coached out of him, especially now that we have a great coaching staff.

PFW Debacle

Even PFW can get things right now and then.

In Saban We Trust!

Thats a good read, I can't wait to see Culpepper throw the ball out to Chambers in games.

OK... thanks for the clarification. I WAS confused!

I hate to say it but I dont think Saban would've hurried to get Harrington had he been confident that C-Pep would be ready on day 1. :boohoo:
