I've read many a post from many a poster on how good James, Landry, Turner, and even Lynch, Tripp, and undrafted Larson will be this year. According to some, we will have at least 3 starters at some point this season. I'm confused on why we are so enamored with draft picks expectations.

It cannot be based on NFL daft history, and certainly not on Dolphins draft history. So, is it just wishful thinking or something else?

Bro I think it is there ability and us fans giving them the benefit of doubt as we need to have a very good draft year to start building up a once proud franchise back to a successful one rather than being stuck in mediocrity as we have been.

Gotcha but, there is a whole lot of the benefit of doubt going on here, and few are anywhere near as kind to FA additions.

Ask random people what they would do with the winnings if they won the powerball, I guarantee pretty much 100% of them would go on and on with sometimes detailed plans. We like to dream, its what we do and its just human nature.

Personally, nothing really excites me about the draft class except that if James is decent and if Landry can get in the discussion for offensive rookie of the year it could get the positive buzz ball rolling for Hickey and Philbin going into the future.

It's the time of the year to be hopeful even though we know what history says about young players and the situation at OL. We are going to eventually draft the next Jason Taylor at some point or a player or two that surprises us right? I sure would hope so.

I'm with ya. If James can be around average, and Landry has an impact, I'm happy with this year's draft for this year. I think anything past that is for next year but, would be very happy with any other positive surprises.

Yeah, a JT or ZT type player would be extremely welcome this year or any year.

I am sure when camp opens and gets going that will either increase or fade away. If Philbin wants to continue to coach in Miami he needs to have success from this years additions.

IMO, other than James, Philbin needs to have success from last year's draft and Hickey's FA much more than this years picks.

I don't recall anybody saying we will have three starters this season from the 2014 draft class. I think the consensus is that James will start and it's his job to lose. As for Landry, there is a lot of high hopes and excitement for him but I think most realize he won't be a starter but will contribute this year. If he does somehow crack the starting lineup then that will be a plus for us. I can't see Turner starting this year but if he does then I believe things have headed south on the Oline. Hopefully he can have some solid reps as a backup. After those guys I don't see any of the other rookies claiming a starting spot.

I think that there is cause for optimism with some of the players drafted. If you can't understand the reason for being enamored with Jarvis Landry, then watch his highlights video. He has more obvious natural talent than any player we have drafted in the past 15 years.
Yes, I'm excited. Tannehill is a reasonably accurate passer. Our QB has even remarked that Landry has the best hands he's ever seen.

While I do agree with your assessment, I have seen many posts on Landry taking over for Gibson and Matthews in the slot, Turner starting at OG, Tripp taking over from Wheeler during the season, and Larson filling in for Pouncey. Have we been reading the same forum? :)

Ireland didn't pick them!

FWIW, in Ireland's last 3 draft we got Odrick, Misi, Jones, and Carroll. Then, Pouncey, Clay, and Wilson. Then, RT, OV, Miller, and Matthews. Not all that bad.
