We have six picks, and IF we are very Lucky, we might get 2 payers to contribute this year, and maybe even one who makes an impact. That's about it. Thinking that we will get anything more does not make any sense. FA will make or break this year's team.
 
Worst thread of the year? Probably.
 
Trying to build for just "next year" is what got us in this mess. This team has been trying to do it in one year for ages. We need to build the team with a real nucleus, not just building for "next year." We don't need more over-priced FA's...that don't do squat to help the team in the long run.

Yeah, and that ain't gonna happen this year. IF we had developing players looking good, things are different but, we don't.
 
This team is close.. Sorry if you dont see that.. We need Right around 6 good roster moves.. Starting with resigning grimes

No, it isn't going to happen this year. Hopefully with a new GM, we start to build. But if you just keep doing the FA thing, we will never build and we will keep sucking.

I hear this year after year, and every year we end up right where we were before...so sorry if I don't listen to the yearly crap again..."we're only a few players away"
 
That's the problem with an impatient media, and fan base. Too much pressure to make change. The fact is Ireland should have been ousted with Sparano, and we'd be sitting fine today. The way it's been done neither Philbin, or Hickey will have the time permitted to build a roster before they are fired. The only option is try to win now.

The Draft is more important than ever. If you don't hit in the draft over a three year period you end up needing higher priced vets, instead of guys on rookie contracts. If you need a lot of vets/Free Agents, you can't afford the good ones - or you have holes. You have to make use of rookie salaries. IMO

IMO the draft hasnt gotten us anywhere so far ,the best players we have gotten have been in FA. wake , Grimes patterson ,Wallace and mckinnie , just to name a few , i mean if we can get somebody that knows how to evaluate Talent than maybe our draft would /will have more Value , but as of right now , until proven other wise our best chance to get the players we need that not only can play , and not just fill a roster spot , we have been more successful in FA , i know that the draft is where we are suspose to find most of our players , but also FA helps when your not able to find enough talent in the draft , and its not like we have a heck of alot of picks we have 6-7 picks and most of the time 1-4 is where most of the players turn out to be decent players , and theres just noway to find all of the talent we need through the draft . FA is just as BIG as the draft to us .

Not even close. The OP is correct, although I know that won't stop the usual suspects from declaring the upcoming draft the "bestest eva in the history of football." Every pick will be a steal and a stroke of genius. They'll tell us every player picked will contribute in a significant way. Hickey will be proclaimed a drafting genius... a god... a "boss!. We hear it every damn year. Then a few games into the season, the reality hits.
