Lakers coach reportedly earns induction into basketball shrine

Lakers coach Phil Jackson has won nine NBA titles in his coaching career.

Phil Jackson will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame this September, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The Lakers' head coach has won nine NBA titles and more than 900 games in his career.

Jackson hasn't been a head coach for the necessary 25 years, but his time as an assistant with the Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets will count, the paper reported.

Jackson's overall NBA record is 915-387 (.703). After leading the Bulls to six titles in nine years between 1989-1998, he directed the Lakers to three championships from 1999-2004.

I think Phil Jackson is the most overrated coach in sports, right up there with Bill Parcells.

Phil has had the great fortune of coaching Michael Jordan, Shaq and Kobe...without these guys he would likely have ZERO NBA titles. I would rather have a coach like Jerry Sloan of the Utah Jazz, or Greg Popovich, over the "Zen master."

Answer me one question. How many titles with Bulls before Phil? Shaq and Kobe before Phil?

Lakers had a better team before Phil got there. Freakin Del Harris couldnt coach for crap.

Yep Greg Pop sure won those titles before Duncan. How fortunate David Robinson got a year ending injury for them to pick up Duncan in the draft. Jerry Sloan on the other hand I agree with you.
