Phil Simms on QB prospects (Sun-sentinell)

me and simms have one thing in common,,we both feel like cleo could be a good QB in this league,,,,anyone who states that cleo sucks or he isnt in our plans or he's just a third stringer,i beg to differ.

IMO once again this is how the QB situation will go down.

Trent will sign,,,daunte will be healthy come training camp,cleo will be ready to compete and we will draft a qb.

Daunte will make a lot of people eat major crow,,,,cleo will beat out trent for the backup job,,trent will be cut at the end of training camp.

Cleo is intriguing. He just needs a break.

Interesting insight on Quinn and Edwards by a former NFL QB

I've heard that previously about Quinn. A lot of his deep balls are underthrown. That's not good for a team looking to open up the passing game.

Edwards, his td-int ratio scares me big time. And those were his college numbers, imagine what it's going to be like for him in the NFL where he faces the best of the best players and coaching every week!!!!

I was surprised about his comments on Stanton. Stanton is similar to Quinn in that they both get a lot of mixed reviews. I love his athletism, probably second to none at the QB position in this draft.

I say if we don't get Quinn then we'll probably go with Stanton or Beck.

Not sure on Cleo, I think by now he should be ready to start and clearly by us looking at Trent we don't believe he is ready. i have never been fascinated by Cleo, hell some people on this board implied he was better than phillip Rivers. Also back to Rivers where are all the haters now, I told you he was quite good.
 
Remember Joe montana wasn't highly touted either. until Bill Walsh to a chance on him.
 
Phil Simms knows what he's talking about and is one of the better NFL analysts out there imo. This just further solidifies my viewpoint of Quinn being overrated and definitely not worthy of trading up.
 
Look guys there are only a few times a game when the Qb is going to throw down field anyway, look at Jay Fiedler he didn't have the strongest arm but the fins won games with him, they need a smart Qb who can manage the game in all phases. I imagine there is only a couple of guys in this draft that can do it and JaMarcus Russell isn't one of them, I believe Trent Edwards and John Beck could be a steal if the fins pick either one of those guys.
 
Nice read. The two QB's I like are Quinn and Beck, but I doubt we will be able to snag one of them. I think Quinn will be gone before we pick in round one, and Beck will be gone before we pick in round two. Of the guys left, Edwards and Kolb are the most intriguing to me.
