Don't know if this was posted, but I remember during the Fins vs. Pats game earlier this month that he said "Zach Thomas is the smartest football player in the NFL and that includes Peyton Manning". Thought it was a nice to hear....

Simms also pointed out in the same game why Zach no longer fits our defense. Simms showed 4 clips, 2 of zach blowing the play up in the back field because no one touched him, and 2 where he got completely blocked out of the play.

He was on pace for a career year in this defense. You've got no idea what you are talking about if you think he doesnt fit the new defense.

I'm not sure if it was Simms or not.... (maybe during the Falcons game) but I recall someone saying that Zach would fit into any defensive scheme because of his great instincts and great game preparation (film study, etc.). Yeah, sometimes linebackers do get blocked on some plays, it happens.

Fox did the Falcons game. Simms did the game after that vs Pats.

Because he got blocked once and mabey missed a tackle? Name ONE linebacker you would rather have on this team

Zach isn't done and those who say he is know nothing....nice of Simms to give Zach his props.

Zach is still great,but at his age and size,when was the last time
he was healthy for a whole season?

Listen, its not once or twice type of situation. On half the plays from scrimmage Zach gets blocked. Has anyone ever wondered why we're so horrible at covering screens? because if a team can get there lineman in front of their backs, they can easily plow right through guys like zach. Zach is an awesome Linebacker, but hes not what saban wants there.

If Zach was getting blocked so often how in hell was he leading the league in tackles before getting hurt???

In my opinion, they shouldn't record tackles passed 5 yards from the line of scrimmage, because from that point, the play was still effective, and i'd run it again and again. Just because he led the league in tackles doesn't mean he was stopping anyone.

That's a totally different question. I would rather have: Vilma, Ray Lewis, possibly Lofa Tatupu. If we froze Zack's performance right now it'd be him hands down, but given the salary cap and his age, that doesn't necessarily translate into who I want playing.

I know Zach is having a career year but I see Simms' point. The 3-4 uses big tough linebackers - and while Zach is a BA he doesn't have the size. He is proving once again that he can overcome his shortcomings and dominate - but for how long?

Simms was just saying what this defense normally uses - Zach is just proving to everyne he can beat any stereotype again.

Redicuolous..........so who the hell was he tackling. Tackles are recorded at ball location isn't it? How did he get there, if he was so blocked?:fire::yell:

Absolute nonsense........if I ever heard one.:fire::yell:

If he got blocked initially, but broke off and made the tackle 4-5 yards later, (not by shedding the block, but because the play had already past him) is that honestly worth praising?
