“It’s great to be back,” Philbin said. “It’s great to be on the practice field. When you get into coaching, you have two families. You have your family and you have your football family. I’m very fortunate. We’ve got a great organization here and it’s great to be back.”
Philbin missed the past two days of practice after flying to Massachusetts to spend time with his family following the passing of his father, Paul, last Friday.
“The guys have done great,” Philbin said. “I’ve had a chance to catch up on the practice film. The attitude was good. Our weight room workout today, according to Darren (Krein) and Dave Puloka, was as good as we had. So the attitude was good. I thought the energy (at practice) was good.”
For the players, Thursday was a return to normal with Philbin back in charge.
“It was great having him back,” offensive lineman Mike Pouncey said. “We missed him while he was gone. The assistant coaches did a great job filling in while he was gone, but there’s nothing like having him around the building, the way he goes about himself, the way he conducts himself. We’re just happy he’s back with us and back at peace.”
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was sporting a different look when he held his weekly press conference at the Doctors Hospital Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University, and it was all for a good cause.
Tannehill has been growing a beard and a mustache to do his part for Movember, a cause devoted to promoting and bringing awareness to men’s health issues.
According to movember.com, there are five rules to officially get involved and become a “Mo Bro.” The two most significant are that candidates be clean-shaven at the start of “Movember” and that they “use the power of the mustache to create conversations about men’s health and to raise funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

That would be Larry Webster and, yes, the Lions rookie is related to the Larry Webster who played for the Dolphins from 1992-94. The younger Webster played the same position (defensive end) and wears the same number (79) as his father during his three seasons in Miami.
