Was it me or last night on Hard Knocks was Coach Philbin having a hard time telling Chad to shut the **** up and be happy that he has an opportunity to make the team???? He seemed to be struggling to tell Chad to be a professional?

No one wants to be the ******* to tell someone to shut the **** up...Philbin was just trying to be nice about it and kind of tell him to cool it some... He just doesn't seem like the type of guy to just blatantly tell a guy to shut up...

NO it was about his inter view when he was saying all them f-bomds...

Apparently so. And now Dan Sileo is all over it on WQAM. He's been bashing Philbin all afternoon. It's been so bad I shut the radio!!! It's been a week since I download iradionow to listen too WQAM and come to the conclusion Sileo has an agenda I'm not a fan of.

I don't think Philbin was struggling to tell him. He pretty much told Chad the way it is going to be and it is up to him whether or not he wants to follow the rules. If not, Philbin isn't afraid to let him go. Based on Chad's comments today, I think he got the message loud and clear from Philbin.

Tell that to Sileo, the guy is absolutely going to town on Philbin as being weak.

A good leader figures out what makes people tick, and you approach different people with different methods. It seems Phiblin is approaching 85 with an asking/telling approach.

altercation-A noisy argument or disagreement, esp. in public.

I don't think he was telling him to shut up at all.

What he was telling him is don't go crazy with that stuff to the MEDIA.

In-house he can be himself, hell even Philbin said he curses and whatnot on the field, but in front of the cameras he needs to tone it down.

Altercation??? :ponder:

I'd hardly classify their little talk as an altercation. In fact, I think Philbin went about it the right way. Not too harsh, not too soft. You don't want to come off as a hard-headed dictator right away. Conversely, you don't want the players to walk all over you. Chad now knows he needs to clean that up or it could jeopardize his status on this team.

Definately not the issue some are making of it. There is no easy way to handle Chad. I think Philbin did it well. He had an issue and talked to him about it. Chad is not stupid. He will realize the problem understand the concern and make the change. This does not mean that he won't need constant attention. Zebras don't change their stripes and dealing with Chad and professional atheletes is part of the job.

I really feel for you local guys who are stuck listening to the South Florida drivel they call radio shows. Has there been any positive discussion down there in 10 years?

Well, get used to it Sileo. The whole senior coaching staff (Philbin, Sherman, Coyle, O'Keefe) are paternal, good guy types who gain respect by building character as well as football players.

I don't think they're either soft or naïve. I do think Philbin should have run Chad out of his coaches meeting though.

He wanted to let Chad know , that is not how he is going to let his players represent the dolphins organization in the media. Chad was just playing but he took it a little to far with all the profanity. Joe just let him know, to tone it down.
