Philbin dissatisfied with tempo of Dolphins O

Ryan Tannehill | MIA

(August 25, 2014 5:49 PM EDT)

Coach Joe Philbin hasn't been satisfied with the Dolphins' tempo on offense this summer.

New OC Bill Lazor was supposed to bring an Eagles-like pace to the offense, but it's yet to materialize. Philbin has pulled Lazor aside a "couple of times" because he thought "we could have been pushing the pace a little faster." Philbin added it's "something that has to get a little quicker." No. 1 receiver Mike Wallace agrees: "You feel like you’re going fast. ... And then you realize you’re not going fast, and then it’s time to come out." There's still every reason to believe Lazor will be an improvement on Mike Sherman. Ryan Tannehill has looked comfortable in the new offense, and Miami finally got its running game on track in its third preseason game (albeit against the defense-less Cowboys

I don't know about him, but this is the best this offensive has looked since he became head coach.....I hope he stays out of the way on this one......

Not concerned. We saw it on their first drive of the pre-season, and it looked great.

Philbin needs to just leave Lazor alone. Hell, with what I saw this preseason, Lazor would probably be a better head coach option than Philbin.

Well Im dissatisfied with Philbin after letting his team play so bad the last two games. So please Philbin be upset

I'm dissatisfied with this article.

Philbin said in today's presser he thought there were times in the game against Dallas we could have pushed the tempo. He didn't say all preseason. The way he said it seemed like he was saying that's something they could have done better against Dallas but weren't necessarily focusing on. This article blows it up a lot bigger than the quote was.

It's really hilarious when you get to see the quotes in the presser and then the subsequent liberties these "journalists" take.

It's refreshing to hear Philbin voice concern unlike the last two years of letting the offense almost kill his career as a head coach.

that's exactly right my man. how or why people don't see the constant manipulation is beyond me.

Thanks. This should be in the original post of this thread just to prevent suicidal reactions here.

I wonder why he didnt say anything to the brain dead Sherman last year? maybe because he was a friend of his? Just for that reason, I would have fired Philbin.

I see this as a positive - Philbin expects more from his staff, the team is on board, and because of it they will reach the goal of a more upbeat tempo. Im sure a consistent OL will improve that tempo.

I think he should be concerned. You can make excuses about it's just preseason but its not difficult to see they are struggling. To often we see an offense out of sync carry that over to the regular season.

I'm real curious to see how many series the offensive starters get Thursday night. I suspect they'll get more than one.
