Dan Hanzus of NFL.com seems to believe so. In today's NFL Mailbag:

@DanHanzus
#ATNMailbag surprise benching/firing that happens mid season

1:27 PM - 10 Aug 2015

I'll give you five, from least to most likely to be canned by Christmas:

5. Jim Tomsula: I'm rooting for Jimmy, but he's been hired to re-arrange Titanic deck chairs.
4. Lovie Smith: Any coach coming off a 14-loss season has to be considered here.
3. Ken Whisenhunt: See above.
2. Jay Gruden: New GM in place, shaky first year, bad roster
1. Joe Philbin: Big expectations, middling roster, three straight seasons at .500 or worse. A vanilla version of vanilla.

WTF?

No brainer, if Philbin is like 2-6 at midseason, he should be fired.

Philbin has been given enough talent to, at the very least, make the post season. But I have always said that we will probably lose 2-3 games because of his coaching decisions.

I'm going to give Philbin the benefit of the doubt for the past three seasons. No excuses this year. None. Winning season or he has to go. Period.

Middling roster?
This writer is out of touch with this team

If it is a middling roster as he says, then why are the expectations so high from his point of view? Disconnect.

Sure, Joe is on borrowed time, but I do not get his rationale.

And who are you hiring this time, Lazor? Wisenhunt? Tod Bowles? Lmao!

Sparano was worse and didn't get fired. Stupid people making stupid statements is what that article is.
