### Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is so hands-on that his wife, Diane, said “he was interested in changing the Dolphins’ letterhead and I was shocked he was concerned with that.” Philbin has been very involved in changes throughout the facility, including choosing photos of former Dolphins to put in the halls (and the cutlines/captions) and posting slogans such as “champions practice here.”
### Players have talked about how detail-oriented Philbin is, and Diane says as a couple, they actually write five-year lists of “our goals for life and our kids.” She calls Joe her “meat and potatoes. He’s always there, dependable, steady. His best quality is he takes a stressful situation, puts it in perspective, and makes it less stressful.”
### General manager Jeff Ireland, speaking about Ryan Tannehill to the Dolphins’ web site: “I’m trying not to put too many grandiose expectations on the kid. I think the kid is our future. Obviously, I wouldn't have drafted him with the eighth pick [otherwise]. I feel like he's the kind of guy you want in the locker-room, the kind of athlete you want running an offense. But we’ve got two other quarterbacks here that are very established, very good competitors, so it’s not going to be easy for him."
Tannehill has been slow in making decisions at times and has taken a lot of sacks. But Ireland said, "the speed of the game is challenging for any rookie.”
### The Dolphins have discussed cutting capacity at Sun Life Stadium, but now are re-evaluating that because they’ve sold 6000 new season tickets, mostly since the draft. That's the most in several years, team CEO Mike Dee said.

Why is it that Jackson and Volin are the only guys who just report interesting stuff, sans agenda and relatively impartially?

It isn't hard.

Interesting off-field tidbit there with the news they may not reduce capacity at The Joe after all. Has anyone heard anything about moving the seats closer for next season? So we can, ya know, have a loud stadium again?

Agree and the only guys that do good interviews are the two on Finsider's Jessy Agler and John Congemi who does the best in my humble opinion.

So how is he gonig to learn the speed of the game? I holding a clipboard.

Omar is more concerned with being a trendy edgey pseudo-celebrity than making his work stand out. I genuinely think he envisions himself as some sort of "funny, in your face" type beat writer who has personality.

Omar actually provides more Fin information via Twitter than any other beat writer by far. He's a good follow...

Omar pumps out a lot of information. I just wish he would stop with the self-aggrandizement and the outright belligerant attitude toward fans and followers. He could be so much more popular than he is.

With Omar, the Fins are a means to an end. Guy is a snake, IMO.

I like the Philbin appointment. But I'm surprised to hear that he is so high detailed. Sparano was a detail freak who could recite the precise number of plays that every player participated in. But he got so bogged down in the detail that he couldn't see the big picture. Let's hope Joe has an appetite for the big picture as well as the detail.

Yeah I didn't want to be the guy to remind people that Sparano was a detail freak too and if i'm not mistaken so was Saban.

Well, let’s hope that Philbin has a better grasp on game management than Sparano.

Being detail oriented is a great trait for a Head Coach as long as they're detail oriented about the things that actually matter.
