Philbin will be accompanied Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and perhaps other staff members, including general manager Jeff Ireland. Sherman was once part of the Texas A&M coaching staff as an assistant that recruited Manning out of Newman High in New Orleans. It was one of the few visits Manning made during the recruiting process in which he chose the University of Tennessee.

So much for it being a 'courtesy' trip. Looks like all the important minds will be in the room. (For the record, Ross isn't an important mind, just an important wallet).

Awsome, great coaches we have. Him being a fan of Marino and the dolphins will help as well. Reggie Wayne a Miami guy too. Get it done .

More than ever, I think Condon was leveraging the Phins. IMO, Condon wanted to create an atmosphere of desperation, so in turn he can get the best deal for Manning.

I really like our chances now. However, I hope the Dolphins keep their heads and don't just fold to sign him for signing sakes.

  • The timetable of the meeting becomes as important as Joe Philbin's meeting with Peyton Manning. They'll meet by 2 p.m. on Tuesday somewhere off the Dolphins' campus. With free agency starting at 4 p.m., the hope would be the Dolphins have some idea of how Manning is leaning. Cleveland and Seattle probably will give Matt Flynn their best offers at the very start of free agency. While Flynn probably won't sign until all offers are in, he might get blown away by one and jump on it.
 
I would muzzle up Ireland before he asks Manning a question that will ruin our chances. :chuckle:

After Irsay, I'm not sure Ross can do anything to ruin his opinion of NFL owners.
