Philbin, Ireland, Sherman will all be present in Manning meeting

Just heard on NFLN that Ireland will not be there.

With the way these reports are coming up, I would say it's a 50/50 chance he's there.

Ireland: "hey Peyton, we really want you here but there's one question I have to ask..."

Manning: "I'd love to play here and win you guys a Super Bowl Geoff so what is it?"

Ireland: "is your mother a cheap wh@re?"

Manning: "goodbye gents, see you at Mile High some day, bring Henne."

Forgive me if I don't laugh after the millionth time this tired old joke comes up.

Forgive me if I laugh again for the millionth time.

It was a pathetic, sad, low point in our franchise's history... to have a Dolphins high ranking member ask a top talent that question.....

We must never forget. Ireland is on a short leash.

Even Dez has moved on give me a break already.

I just think he got burnt out on the two back to back trips. They both spent 6+ hours pitching themselves to him and all he probably wants to know is how the offense is going to work and how he would fit in. It's fit and opportunity to get back to the SB. Cities, lifestyle, etc. don't play into this decision. The press keeps guessing on all this and they keep getting it wrong. Funny how nobody calls them out on it because they only police themselves.

Interesting the timing seems like a power play from the Manning Camp trying to handcuff us at the start of free agency. That and not meeting at team HQ. Try to keep us out of the Flynn race, I would think that is why Ireland stays at HQ to be ready for the start of FA. Which is actually a good thing from aall angles.

Schefter's Next Update Will Be: Manning has narrowed this meeting to Philbin and Sherman, it looks like those are the two Miami executives still in play. The question on everyone's mind is, will Jeff Ireland make an appearance? and is there an unnamed member of the Dolphins staff that could come into play late? We'll just have to wait and see.

You're just about the only one who brings this up any more. I'm sure Dez has moved on, and everyone else.

The fact that he gets to meet with Philbin and Sherman is encouraging. I really think Philbin will shine in that atmosphere away from the clubhouse. Seems like he gets players and coaches respect that way and impresses people with his class, knowledge, and personality. I think Manning will respect Joe. Hopefully that will turn into a signing.
