He'd take the Packers staff with him! A organization that knows how to win. People want to compare him to Sparano. But last I checked, the Packers offense was AGGRESSIVE, always going for the kill, rather than settling for FGs. His main job was preparing the offensive game plan so he has a keen eye for match ups.

I hope he would take with him...

-Tom Clements (Green Bay's QB Coach) as his offensive coordinator. Helped develop Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn.

-Winston Moss (Assistant HC, Inside LBers Coach for the Packers) as the defensive coordinator. He'd bring an aggressive style 3-4 defense so the Fins would have the stability of keeping an aggressive 3-4 and hopefully Moss will keep aggressive into the 4th (looking at you, Nolan)

And finally, Philbin and Clements would have first hand knowledge on the true potential of Flynn. If they think he's worth signing, then go get him. This wouldn't be a AJ Feeley move because these guys would know if he really is worth the investment. (Well that plus we wouldn't need to invest draft picks)

..Plus it doesn't help that the other candidate, McCoy's offense put up 10 points against the crappy NE defense in the biggest game of the year.

Not too impressed with the Packers defensively...weren't they 32nd overall?

He doesn't coach the D. That's Dom Capers. Plus they have a bad defense talent wise compared to us that's for sure!

Woa, actually you're right. Just checked, they were 32nd in total yards against. It's obviously more Capers than anyone so hopefully Moss can take the things he learned from previous years when their defense was much better

Winston Moss is probably going to be the next HC of Oakland.

I've heard those rumors a lot but from what I've read, he's yet to interview with them

Entirly to logical for this sight. I completely agree and feel this is the best case senerio for the organization.

Clements would probably just take the OC promotion in GB. Moss is a frontrunner for the Oakland HC spot and his role in GB is big enough that this could be considered a lateral move. It just seems extremely unlikely Philbin would be able to bring much of GB's coaching staff with him.

this year yes, but the previous 2 years they've been top 5 in yards and top 10 in points (last year they were 2nd in points). This is really the first year under the current defensive coaches that the defense was bad.

Though on the bright side, the current defensive staff has been 1st, 2nd, and 1st in interceptions

the question is what kind of pull would he have to put together a quality staff, if he can bring the packers offense, matt flynn, and find a quality DC then I will possibly open up to this idea, I just hope he can lead men, I hope he can be disciplined, I hope he can command a lockeroom, there are a lot of qualitys you need to have to be a head coach and mike zimmer had them, I dont understand why he was eliminated.

If Philbin leaves, I am sure the Packers would promote Clements to OC. Doubt he follows Philbin across the country, uproots his family, and goes to a worse team just to take the same job. I think if we do hire Philbin it is a sign we will go after Flynn, not quite sure how I feel about that considering he has a relatively small sample size. Doesn't mean we'll end up with Flynn though. Thats on Ireland to offer him the best contract. Flynn will not come here just because of Philbin, he will go where the money is

Leadership ability is huge. Not sure any of our top 3 candidates specialize in that, but what do I know. I also wanted Zimmer.

I'm feeling the Flynn thing here. If JI and Ross see that they will not be getting a qb this year, then maybe this is a double dip in getting an offensive HC, and getting the inside line on Flynn. I can see this. Seeing a Flynn / Moore duel for starter next year would be an awesome thing.

Leadership is important but Patton was a leader. Do you want him as the HC?.....There's a lot of stuff that goes into it.....I don't trust Ross or Ireland but I don't get to pick the coach so I'm not going crazy over it. I do wish they'd pick one before the seniorbowl.

Ozzy rules!!
