Philbin is not comfortable with Miami’s offensive line

Sadly our gm is the guy who built this weak line.

just for the record, its well documented that sparano pounded the table for Jerry and Columbo. Ireland was doing his coach a favor.

The difference now is Philbin.

Sign Jake Scott and draft Mosley in the third round. The line will be set!

jake scott could definitely solve our rg dilemma. jake scott is a very good player who can help immediately. translation: no way on earth we sign him.

I mean we've been working on the OLINE for what four years? five years? and up until last years draft we had ONE spot solidified... now we have two, or at least we seem to have two...

i get a kick out of ppl being okay with the 3 holes we have on the OL, being filled by guys like incognito, murtha, thomas, or nate garner....

These are probly the same people who say "you cant draft a G at #8" and "If we draft another OL in first round, I quit"

But why in gods name would you not want a nasty MF who pulls like a pro bowler and blocks with such great technique I'll never know. Some people think championship is spelled with WR.

And Sparano WAS given some authority over personnel last year so it makes sense. why Craplumbo was brought in.

how can philben not be comfortable with a line that tied a dolphin record for sacks given up lol

I'm totally for decastro at 8... always have been... hes about my third or fourth choice there but I'd take him...

point is... ireland has had his hands in the cookie jar, in some way shape or form for four years.. sparano was a supposed OL guru, parcells loved cornfed lineman, and yet 5 years later, out of 5 OL positions, we have 3 holes...

another reason I don't get why you've managed to fail at OL drafting as a whole for basically half a decade and winston is available and you don't bring him in. established OL who wasn't exactly going to break the bank, but wanted paid.. as he should have been... incognito is serviceable, but certainly we could stand an upgrade at LG...

i would have been all over a long, pouncey, winston, decastro scenario.. than I may have even drafted another Ol in round 3 or even 2... san fran did back to back lineman... seemed to be an okay idea.

Never mentioned Jake Long's money. Was refering to Justin Smiley's payday and even hinting at the two contracts Richie Incognito has received.

The point is, we have dumped so many resources into those 3 spots they SHOULD be secured by now. Right guard and tackle should also be secured, especially after giving Vernon Carey a big contract, bringing in Marc Colombo(who even fans saw was truly awful but Ireland thought otherwise), and burning a third and fourth round pick on different players.
The fact that we are still trying to secure those spots is both hilarious and very sad.

Don't forget the Jake Grove money! We paid him 15mil to go away!

Poor old Jeff

If it's not Parcells doing his job it's Sparano. Who's he going to blame this year ? J-Lo ?

I really wish it was well documented ...

We don't have a weak line.

We have a weakness at RT and to a lesser extent RG. The other three positions are solid.

I agree. Come on. Nate Garner not athletic enough? The guy can play any position on the line. How many games has he be called on to step in. John Jerry is only going into his second year.

Great.... say goodbye to skill position picks in the draft, well at least in the first few rounds. FFS here we go again trying to fix a line for 4 years.

Philbin made it clear during his talk with the media Tuesday morning that he’s not comfortable with Miami’s offensive line. …It appears he’s not certain they – Murtha, Nate Garner, John Jerry, Ryan Cook, Ray Feinga – have the athleticism that he seeks.

Amen. Hopefully our former OL guru "Tinkerer" who left the line in the condition Joe's inherited, will continue staying true to his inclinations 1300 miles due north.

It doesn’t surprise me that tweaking/updating is needed. This isn’t not entirely the fault of Ireland or the meatball. Blame it on the archaic Parcells system. More fluid, athletic OL are the way to go IMO. Case in point, the Zone blocking scheme Denver & Atlanta ran a few yrs back.

Agreed. After reading this, I wonder if Zeitler is a good fit for the phins? Perhaps Ad**** or the other OG from Okla St. Garner IMO s/b the RT. Jerry, I think, could do okay & would put him at LG. Another option is Garner at RG and Jerry @ RT. Regardless, there is just one position on the OL that needs to addressed.

Jake Scott is going to be 31yrs old in 2 weeks. I know people want instant gratification when it comes to fixing a glaring need. But a 31yr old O-lineman will break down in a couple to a few years (at best), then we'll have to fix it again.

We have some potential young RT prospects already on the roster, but we do need to find a long term answer to the RG position... I'd love Decastro and be more then happy top take him at the 8 spot (and thinks he'd be worthy of that spot) as long as he lives up to his "best guard prospect to enter the draft since Chad Hutchenson" label...
