As posted before, and stated again by Jackson's Buzz today, Lazor has COMPLETE control of our O, with Philbin having final say on the line up. So, Lazor has to be the coach faulted in the pathetic play by our O along with the players, and not Philbin. True story.

Example 2,101 on how something else is not Joe's fault.

How did Lazor get complete control of the offense?

I think the offense will get better as we shore up the interior OL and the players get more in sync in the new system.

I don't think the problem is Bill Lazor, even though he definitely is having some growing pains as a rookie NFL coordinator. I think the problem continues to be that Joe Philbin can't get this team prepared to come out and play good football across the board more than 2 or 3 times per season. One week it's awful blocking. One week it's dropped passes. One week it's terrible QB play. One week it's a bad pass defense. One week it's a bad run defense. One week it's terrible special teams.

Enough is enough.

Lazor would not sign a contract without being given complete control.

If I am Joe and I am going to get canned, why didn't he take control of the play calling? Oh yeah, he never called plays in GB.

While Lazor may have control of the offense, we have seen Philbin take control of the offense during a game, as we saw towards the end of the 2nd half of the Buffalo game. Also, Philbin is a part of the game planning that goes on leading up to a game. I'd say Philbin and Lazor are both at fault for the offense.

This is the first time I'm hearing that and I think it highly unlikely that an offensive-minded head coach would cede total control of his offense to his brand new, never been one before, coordinator, especially when the HC knows his job is likely on the line. Besides, we know Philbin made the decision not to go for any points at the end of the first half against Buffalo, and that throws your assertion out the window.

I think the broader point is that through 35 games, we have seen the same recurring problems on offense, defense, and special teams.

If we had a team that was playing well consistently in all 3 phases I would be on the Start Matt Moore bandwagon. But I can't ignore the defensive breakdowns, the special teams breakdowns, the inability to fix the offensive line (from a former OL coach), the drops, the lack of commitment to anything resembling a running game, even when it's working, etc. I can give Joe Philbin some slack for dealing with a ton of injuries, but the entirety of the last 2 weeks leaves me stuck with no conclusion other than "Joe is the problem." And I supported this guy through Bullygate for the most part.

I know that you aren't as down on Philbin as I am, and I think that even 2 weeks ago, I felt the same as you did. But I really feel now like there's a pattern with the team coming out flat and unprepared in all 3 phases with some consistency that it has to be put on the head coach.

Actually, if anyone has read the Jason LaCanfora artilce, its Aponte's fault we have a bad offense. :chuckle:

We don't know what goes on behind the scenes but Lazor having complete control was the published story

Why is Philbin the Head Coach?

It's the same old argument for this guy ... Philbin can't control who Ireland brings in - Philbin can't control what happens in the locker room - Philbin can't control who starts or plays - Philbin can't control what the OC does. Etc.

No More Excuses.

By contract, he cannot. However, that has to be a very strange deal. Philbin is Lazor's boss, and I'm sure they work together somewhat in game planning. Does Lazor bring up the contract on disagreements or, let it go? Maybe something else to look forward to in the continuing saga of "As The Dolphins Turn."
