Abramson tweeted around lunch time that Philbin was not at practice due to a family matter. Coyle will address media in his place. I hope all is well with Joe's family. Save the queasy jokes for now

I bet is pretty important/serious when a football coach misses practice.

Let's see where the team's leadership is over the next few days.

One of his kids was in some pretty serious trouble not that long ago.

He may be in court.

Not right to speculate, but I am sure it is pretty important to be out.

I am surprised the reason has not busted out just yet.

It will, and as much as I am for replacing Philbin the coach, I certainly hope everything is alright with Philbin the human being and his family.

As much as I dislike Philbin as a coach, I think he is a decent man. I sincerely hope this doesn't have anything to do with one of his children, that family has gone through enough tragedy recently.

Praying all is well with the Philbin family.

This is funny as shet, you telling people not to speculate.

Isn't another one of Philbin's sons in the Army and got into trouble for leaving the scene of an accident? Could be something related to that.

That what I was thinking, but could be totally unrelated.

Coyle says no one ran practice in Philbin's place. It's a well run machine. He said he expects Philbin back "shortly"

My thoughts go out to Philbin. He's had serious family issues and losses over the past few years so I hope everything works out well. He lost one of his sons a couple of weeks before he was hired by the Dolphins so hopefully everything gets resolved with this.

One left scene of accident and another son who had basically raped an underage girl was found dead
