Philbin not worried about Miami's WRs

The problem is the rest of the league isn't worried about Miami's receivers either. Guess we'll have to wait and see how this unfolds.....

Do people really not realize just how good Greg Jennings is.

These writes that say "Packers don't have a true number 1"

Lolwut?

Miami currently lacks a true No. 1 receiver. But according to Dolphins first-year head coach Joe Philbin, it’s not a big concern in the West Coast offense. "Part of the philosophy of the offense is to have balance. We want our quarterbacks typically to have what we call progression reads where they’re not necessarily isolated on one specific individual. With that being said, we’re going to play to our hot hand. We’re going to certainly strive to create mismatches and take advantage of the guys that we do have. But the offense, once we install the passing game, is not necessarily built upon, 'OK you’re the No. 1 guy, you’re the No. 2 guy, you’re the No. 3 guy.' As we put the plays together for the quarterback in his mind there’s a progression of who’s the first receiver, who’s the second receiver, who’s the third receiver."Similar to the offense Philbin orchestrated in Green Bay, the Dolphins plan to throw for the football to the open receiver, regardless of who it is. For the most part there was no star system with the Packers, and the passing game was arguably the NFL's best. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/40417/philbin-not-worried-about-miamis-wrs
So...throwing to the open man...the guy makes it sound like a brand new concept.

Just b/c Philbin says you don't need a #1 guy in this offense doesn't mean he is ok with our current WR corps....or that he wouldn't want a #1 guy. For years Jennings was that #1. Now it's Jordy Nelson. Those guys could easily be a #1 guy on other teams.....and we don't have anyone to compare to those 2.

I think Hartline can still be fine in this new offense. Just b/c its a WCO base doesn't mean they don't go deep. The Packers took shots down the field all the time, something Hartline is good at.

Tedd Ginn Family available?? Wes Welker would be nice, Oh we traded him, and Marshall too. Our only 2 Good Receivers are currently with other teams...

Marhsall, Welker, Ginn, Hartline, Bess - would be a great receiving Corp. Too bad we can't keep the good players around long enough to build a damn team.

If Philbin has a knack for player development, why are some thinking our current WR corp. quality is finite? Is there an assumption that our WR personnel have reached their ceiling?

He should be. Our WR's are by far the worst in the league. Spreading it around is nice when you have Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and Jermichael Finley with Aaron Rodgers always finding the open man with perfect accuracy. We don't have anything remotely close to that.

I'm not worried about our WRs either. They aren't usually difficult to find and those that we have are capable enough. The last time we had a good team we had similar receivers (sub Gates for Ginn / Hartline for Camarillo). I like that we have different types of receivers - all unselfish without one guy demanding the ball all the time. It should make our offense less predictable

What the hell is Philbin talking about?!?! He really needs to begin consulting the bountiful offensive minds here on finheaven.

I would draft two wide receivers....one in the 2nd round, and use one of our third rounders for the other. We need to add sped and size.
