For those of you who didn't see it here's some of the points he made.

- identify, accuire, and retain players of high quality and charachter.
- "we want only high charachter players here in Miami. We only want players who will represent the Dolphins organization in the most postitve way on and off the field.
- his first priority is to put together a top notch coaching staff
- he sent emails to all Dolphins players introducing himself, and telling them how excited he is to be working with them
- said that he will let his tragedy be his motivation.

That about sums it up for the most part. Think we are going to love this guy!

He's good with interviews, much better than our current GM and last HC (Sparano).

Hope he can get things fixed in Miami. I really like the hire.

sounds like he knows what he wants and what he wants to do i swear if i hear the line of "we had some positives and negatives" like idiot use to always say ill cry

Gotta love Philbin so far but how much do you read into that high character comment? I mean Brandon Marshall isn't considered a high character guy by any means but can you really picture Philbin trying to get rid of him?

I think its something you say but at end of the day its football and not choir practice

Marshall has never quit on the team and has always been a superb teammate. I think his comments would apply more so to the Albert Haynesworths and Santonio Holmes of the industry...

Right, and despite what a lot of coaches say star players are definitely treated differently. It's a lot easier to cut a guy that might only catch 10 passes or less all season than it is to make an example out of a star WR. The other thing with Marshall too though is yes he has his problems on and off the field but he's a top talent that plays hard.

I assume he will take more of a "from here on out" type of stance. What's in the past is in the past, and set an expectation of the players actions in the future.

I'd hope not. The best WR on the team getting let go b/c of nothing would be his first mistake

I think he is sending a message to our current roster:
"don't go out in the offseason and get arrested (dui/drugs/weapons/assault) if you want a chance to stay on the team".

what i saw was philbin talking a lot about aquiring the right players for their system.

he said they are going to spend a lot of going through the roster, identifying the talent, DEVELOPING the talent thats there [he repeated that and emphasised it!] and getting the best out of the roster.

that was music to my ears as that has been my biggest problem with the last few regimes. we find talent, but we dont develope it. we dont reward it when they make plays. and we send a lot of good talent to OTHER TEAMS!!

i didnt catch the part about high character guys. i will re watch it, but he spent a LONG time on the aquisition of the RIGHT players for the system and developing the talent they have.

you can see the hurt in his eyes for his son. and i was HOPING to see that. it makes him human, and real. and the thing i like watching him was when he was talking about detail, accountability, talent, etc.... he spoke it like it was matter of fact, not rah-rah-rah, were thrash, were gonna crash, were gonna sweep the world type stuff most coaches come in with. it so matter of fact, so "this just how it is and will be". it was natural rolling off his tounge.

and i have kept asking myself over and over, WHO DOES HE REMIND ME OF!! no, it not larry coker. and then it hit me during the presser, he reminds me of TOM LANDRY!!! that same low key, low manner, matter of fact, you can take it to the bank demeanor. that humble, but sure personality. the common speak of a true teacher.

all he was missing was the pork pie!!!

i am VERY excited about coach phil.

they asked him about the qb situation. he said the qb has his hands on the ball EVERY play and he is a very important part of the puzzle. but he said that even though you have to have quality play from your qb, there are many facets to an offense success, blocking, run game, wr's running crisp routes. with out it, your qb is handicapped. he then said, "in our system, the qb is able to have success, and we WILL have good play from our qb's".

DANG!!!

he said it so matter of factly.

music to my ears.

"don't go out in the offseason and get arrested (dui/drugs/weapons/assault) if you want a chance to stay on the team".

WHERE WAS THIS? i saw this as it came on nfl network. i did not hear him say this at all.

can you give me a time mark on the tivo so i can see it. another poster said something about him talking about only bringing in "high character" players. i didnt catch that either.

was there a longer version of it earlier today or something? i saw it on around the leauge at 1:00 arizona time and it appeared as though it was a live, 1st run.

what did i miss????
