Philbin on Around the League Live

WHERE WAS THIS? i saw this as it came on nfl network. i did not hear him say this at all.

can you give me a time mark on the tivo so i can see it. another poster said something about him talking about only bringing in "high character" players. i didnt catch that either.

was there a longer version of it earlier today or something? i saw it on around the leauge at 1:00 arizona time and it appeared as though it was a live, 1st run.

what did i miss????

I think he was paraphrasing.

i dont know much about the new coach though he must be an upgrade over Sparano who is a new york jet it was meant to be he sparano will fit in well

For those of you who didn't see it here's some of the points he made.

- identify, accuire, and retain players of high quality and charachter.
- "we want only high charachter players here in Miami. We only want players who will represent the Dolphins organization in the most postitve way on and off the field.
- his first priority is to put together a top notch coaching staff

- he sent emails to all Dolphins players introducing himself, and telling them how excited he is to be working with them
- said that he will let his tragedy be his motivation.

That about sums it up for the most part. Think we are going to love this guy!

Sounds like B. Marshall might be trade bait.

"in our system, the qb is able to have success, and we WILL have good play from our qb's".

DANG!!!

he said it so matter of factly.

music to my ears.

I noticed this too, Sparano never seemed sure of anything so this was like a breath of fresh air hearing a coach say something Was going to happen. Philbin has a lot of confidence in himself to get the job done and I like that too. With his confidence and I'm assuming the confidence he will have in the players it Has to have a positive effect on the field. If he really is as advertised and can back up the things he says can you just imagine going into a critical situation with your leader and just knowing you will accomplish your task because you know what to do, you are prepared for it, and you WILL get it done. Now idk if Philbin can really get things done the way he seems to believe he can but he sure is saying all of the right things at the moment.

I liked what Philbin was saying, but I think he still needs some practice with tv interviews. He needs to learn to look into the camera. It makes for a bad interview when he is staring down at his shoes the whole time.

totally agree outlaw.

love that puppy pic! is that a black lab?

i have a full blood blacklab female and a black lab/coyote mix i rescued out of the desert near an indian reservation about 5 years back. he probably wasnt even a year old and was a skeleton. my vet said if i hadnt brought him in that night, he more than likely wouldnt have made it.

and he has turned out to be the best dog in the world and bonded instantly with our female lab. he is funny as all get out.

dogs are awsome!!! how old is that pup now outlaw? this pic below was taken on the beach in jacksonville, fla 3 years back. chance [the coyote/lab male] on the left and jodie [our female black lab] on the right.

Gotta love Philbin so far but how much do you read into that high character comment? I mean Brandon Marshall isn't considered a high character guy by any means but can you really picture Philbin trying to get rid of him?

in very subtle terms... he's already telling the squad "i don't wanna have to hold your hand to motivate your learning"; earn the time on the turf, not expect it; make plays, not problems. and that "can you count to 4" line is part n parcel of the new order... again, subtlety.

Brandon Marshall may not be considered a high character guy but he did become one of the team club house leaders last season, especially after he called out Vontae Davis for showing up to practice with a hang over.

He's a pure bred chocolate lab with some champion bloodlines but we never ended up breeding him(or got him fixed) and he's 9 years old now. Labs are awesome, but he's kind of an old dog now and still hyper as hell lol. We had a canadian blue great dane, stood over 6 feet tall on his hind legs but died at 1 year old due to cancer.

what i saw was philbin talking a lot about aquiring the right players for their system.

he said they are going to spend a lot of going through the roster, identifying the talent, DEVELOPING the talent thats there [he repeated that and emphasised it!] and getting the best out of the roster.

that was music to my ears as that has been my biggest problem with the last few regimes. we find talent, but we dont develope it. we dont reward it when they make plays. and we send a lot of good talent to OTHER TEAMS!!
I hope this part was either directed at Jeff Ireland or atleast made the GM take notice. While I understand Ireland's stance on "turning over every rock," which in some ways is a good idea but it doesn't allow for the development of some of the younger players and can deplete a team's depth.

That and I don't think he has had any issues since he "came out" about the depression....has he?!?!

I've been very impress by what he's been saying the past few days. He certainly comes across as knowing what he wants to accomplish and what he wants in this football team. I really hope things turn aroung for the dolphins, based on early impressions by this coach i won't be surprised at all if it does.

he was speaking to the 'cue monitor' (where the mods face is), and not the red light cam. and yeah, he'll have to work on that. trust, it ain't easy.

Thanks for the explanation! Being in the position he was at in GB, he probably didn't have many tv interviews of this type.
