Coyle says "we haven't seen the best from Chris McCain. We know that and he knows that." Said he flashes but needs to be more consistent

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP · 4m4 minutes ago
With Dolphins wanting to see more from McCain, seems pretty likely that Sheppard ends up at Mike, Misi at Sam

Greg Likens ‏@GregLikens · 3m3 minutes ago
Coyle on Washington: We've done a lot of homework on our early opponents. We've got a good book on what they did last year & in preseason

Staff will have to put their money where their mouth is. Can't ask any more of Matthews than they have and he's actually delivered this off season so they really have to play him this year more than they have in the past.

It will be interesting to see how all these WR's get worked in... assuming they all stay healthy, which you would assume someone will at least get dinged up along the way. It looks like we at least have some options and depth this year.

Unlike last year we can actually go 5 wide this year if we want to and the defense will have no chance to stop it...and the 5th WR could be a WR or Jordan Cameron.

Greg Likens ‏@GregLikens · 3m3 minutes ago
Lazor on Parker: It will be 100% on what his body can do, how he's feeling. When he's ready to go, we're ready for him #Dolphins

Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley · 3m3 minutes ago

Greg Likens ‏@GregLikens · 2m2 minutes ago
Lazor says that he's been impressed by Jordan Cameron's work ethic, attitude, & love of football #Dolphins

Too many good feelings..

Love the Matthews comment, great system fit and decent size...

Jordan Tripp, linebacker: Tripp suffered a calf injury in practice and has missed nearly two weeks. He lost his chance to compete for a starting job but is a contributor on special teams. Tripp’s timeline to return is unknown

Were not getting much on Tripp probably going to be out a while still .... maybe a month?

All I can think about is the potential of this offense if we protect the QB...

Yea Tripp seems to be the primary backup to Jenkins. I wonder if short term IR is in the cards for him. Gotta think he still makes the team.

Thats what I was kind of thinking too kdawg. shelve Tripp for 6 weeks or however long and carry an extra player at another position

But thought we could maybe only use that for one player? or is it one player at a time? If only one player I would be careful using it on Tripp.

Injured Reserve — Designated to Return

This was instituted in 2012, and the purpose of the rule is to create a middle ground between IR and PUP. It used to be that if a player was going to be out for an extended period of time, but perhaps not the entire season, a team had to either keep him on the roster that entire time, or put him on the IR and not get him back that year.

The Short Term IR can only be applied to one player on a team, and it follows similar rules of the IR and PUP lists. A player must have an injury that will keep him out for 42 days, he’s not allowed to practice with the team until after Week 8 of the regular season, and he’s allowed to practice for three weeks after that.

I believe this can only be used in final cut downs. Say we stay relatively healthy before cut downs . . . What other candidates do you think fits for this? I think Jordan could end up being the best fit . . . Of course we dont know just how bad his injury is, but he was in a walking boot at one point, so that is concerning.

Parker/Albert at most will need until the bye week, so they could Do like they did Pouncey last year and just inactive them for a few weeks instead of six weeks plus time to practice.

I dunno, I think Tripp is probably the guy here.

I would agree with you if it can only be used in final cut downs but don't think that't the case... let me check it out. (I think it can be used anytime so they really need to think about this move)

During each season a club will be permitted to return one player from the Reserve/Injured List to its 53-player Active/Inactive List. Such player must have suffered a major football-related injury (defined as an injury that renders the player physically unable to practice or play football for a period of at least six weeks [42 calendar days] from the date that the injury occurred) after reporting to training camp and must have been placed on Reserve/Injured after 4:00 p.m., New York time, on the Tuesday after the final roster reduction. A player who is eligible to return must be noted as "Designated for Return" at the time the player is placed on Reserve.
