Steve Slaton - RB - Dolphins

Coach Joe Philbin explained that the Dolphins re-signed Steve Slaton because he fits their scheme.

Philbin's comments strongly suggest the Fins are turning to a zone-blocking scheme, which Philbin also oversaw in Green Bay. "(Slaton) is a guy we think fits our system of running the football very, very well," Philbin said. "That’s his training. That’s kind of his background in the league so we really felt he was a good fit schematically." Slaton projects as the Dolphins' No. 3 running back with possible kick return value.

Hope he returns to his rookie self. Be nice to have three good running backs with him, Bush, and Thomas

We have a real nice back field...

On paper at least we have a good backfield. Although, that really depends on keeping them on the field and that is something that none of our backs have displayed the ability to do so far their careers.

Well, lets hope at least a couple of them can stay healthy for the whole year.

Ozzy rules!!

Thomas is going to be a monster in ZBS. We ran in the majority time against Houston and he was a one-cut machine in that game.

Completely agree if he stays healthy . . . he is a one cut runner by design, and he is STILL learning the position. Daniel Thomas could end up the best RB from that draft in the "right" system. I think a ZBS is the "right" system.

We have 5 good RB/FB. I think we are pretty set for next year. Dont think we will draft a RB this year. Maybe UDFA RB will come in to compete.

Can't dispute this fact, Ireland is solely responsible for bringing those three thrash on the team. They can't possibly contribute **** to the team. I mean what does Philbin knows in agreeing with Ireland who was the only who was smart enough to put a claim on him.

Sorry, but if you think a GM picking up FOR NOTHING a RB who is only 25 and had been one of the best backs in the league his rookie year is a sign of his futility, you are kidding yourself.

Ireland can be criticized for many things, but Slaton is still physically in his peak and if he can get back into shape, there's absolutely no reason at all why he couldn't produce at a high level. That's worth taking a gamble on when it costs you NOTHING. Little cap space, doesn't prevent anyone important from playing, nothing.....
