Philbin sets his timetable for picking a starting QB

I think by that time, after watching a couple of games, we will be happy with whoever is named the starter. May the best man win!

This is definetly good. If you go into the season with a QB contrevarsy, it means you don't have a QB.

Look at the Redskins last year.

LOL LOL - I don't believe Happiness and Dolphins Fans go together in the same planet....

Reading between the lines, IMHO this rules out Tannehill unless there are some injuries. It would be wise to bring him along slowly.
So that leaves Garrard and Moore. Hopefully both of them will get equal snaps with the first unit in practice and the games.
I can't wait to see how it plays out.

I continue to see more small signs that he's steering toward David Garrard. Probably not consciously. But Matt Moore is not a guy Joe Philbin helped pick, whereas David Garrard is. Because of that, you can bet Garrard exhibits a lot of the qualities that Joe Philbin looks for in his starting quarterback. The latest one that found its way into that statement about how he's going to pick his starter, was leadership. To me, David Garrard exudes leadership, confidence. Matt Moore seems more the quiet type, just trying to be the best he can and win the job. I thought it was telling that Tannehill talked a little about what an asset the veteran QBs in the group are to him in asking them about this or that...yet when Matt Moore was asked what things Tannehill has asked him, he drew a blank and tried to dance around that he's probably said two words to the rookie but insisted he's there if Ryan ever needs to ask him about anything. Reading between the lines, I bet Tannehill sees Garrard as the guy to go to for that kind of thing.

I seem to remember Ireland bringing in Davis Garrard last season. So i'm not sure that bringing him in this year was all Phiblin's doing.

I'm not surprised that Tannehill is talking more to Garrard. Garrard is more experienced and also, if I was Tannehill, I would not see Garrard as as much of a possible long term threat as Moore is.

I've never convinced that players are all about the team vs themselves. It would be reasonable to simply by age consider Matt Moore being in his prime while David Garrard might have a year or two left in him.

If I was Tannehill, I'd rather have Garrard start over me them Moore. Ryan Tannehill is mostly concerned with himself starting as soon as possible as most players are of course are.

Mark the date on your calendar: Aug. 24, 2012. That's the date of the Dolphins third preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. For more: http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...sets-his-timetable-for-picking-a-starting-qb/

Not saying it won't happen, but doesn't sound like that date is set in stone to me, "You would love to have it done..." and "Hopefully...," I think our new coach is very careful in his wording so can't be held against him down the road.
