Looks like Ireland will not be joined by Philbin at the Senior Bowl. Ireland will scout, while Philbin builds his staff.

In my opinon the game tape is what's important. So as long as Philbin takes a long hard look at those and provides his input I think it will be fine. To me its not a big deal, but I know a lot of people here were concerned we woudl not have a coach in place before then to scout. Well looks like it doesnt matter that we got one.

Everyone is doing what they where hired to do. I am fine with it.

Yeah Philbin's priority is building the staff and evaluating the talent currently on the roster. Jeff's job is to give Philbin the best possible tools to do his job. Now let's hope both of them do their respective jobs well this off-season.

While theoretically, this is correct, most championship teams have a coach and GM that communicate with each other, get each other's opinions on players and discuss player aquirement and development together.

Philbin and Ireland will still do that.

If they have a similar idea in what they want, no huge deal. Come combine, pro days, and private workouts however, they need Philbin.

ah yes, Philbin has a vision of what he wants, the types of guys he wants, the tendencies and everything....

but yet he has to work with "whats given to him" by the GM.

yes of course. makes complete sense, right?
