What has Ross seen in Philbin that he doesn't want to get rid of him? Nobody to replace him ,a security blanket like Ireland ? What does he see that the rest of us don't?

He fell in love with Philbin's "organizational skills". A perfect fit for a corporate type like Ross

I think it's that Philbin has a clear plan that you can identify with when looking at today's elite teams. Molding Tannehill into a passing-attack, elite pocket QB is what Ross likely wants to see, and Philbin's surely sold him on it.

This is quite the tempo change from Sparano and the fist-pump FG's, locker-room attitude. Perhaps it's that "cerebral" aspect of Philbin's view of the game that he sees a good plan set forth.

I should know as I used to be Really sold on Philbin when he started.
But until he starts taking charge of the team, he can organize whatever he wants from his cue cards list -- in the end he has to just roll up his sleeves and have a firmer grip on his team and staff.

And yet, his uptempo offense has yet to exceed the average points scored by a Sparano team in any season of his tenure... Remarkable

GM blessed Philbin with the worst offensive line ever. David Carr wouldnt even want to play behind them.

What happened when Old Man Sherman let Ryan run uptempo no-huddle in the last few minutes before half and before the end of games? Thats right, only one of the best scoring offenses in the league, all this without your #1 TE, #3 WR, LG and LT and the worst o-line collectively in years. Tanny like a BOSS.

You cant blame Philbin for not wanting to interfere with Sherman's offense. I mean Sherman has actually been a HC in the NFL before I doubt he bowed down to Philbin much, if at all.

No more of this. A new GM hopefully means an improved offensive line. Hopefully this will mean improved play and greater success in the future.

Let me say this just once and maybe it will clear the air:

DON SHULA supports Joe Philbin.

Whatever you think of Ross, let THAT sink in.

Don shula supported tony sporano as well and what do we have to show?

He picks up trash in the locker room and keeps it clean. The thought of paying a coach and a janitor at the same time is a big thing for Ross.

He is the first head coach Ross had truly hired, it has been just two seasons and the team improved(granted not by as much as originally hoped) each year he has been here. Most first time head coaches that go 15-17 their first three seasons with gradual improvement get a third season. Other than Ireland being fired and people not wanting a partial change, there wasn't much reason that Philbin shouldn't be back.

2014 is a big season for Philbin going forward, if the team makes the playoffs everything is fine, if they just miss out again he will be on the hot seat. If they collapse and only win a few games, he is likely gone and the new GM(likely Farmer) will be given the authority to hire the new head coach.

Start with 15-17, or worse offenses than Sparano

What is your #1 reason to fire him?

We havent regressed in terms of record, but in terms of offense and defense we have regressed significantly in his second season. Not syaing I want him gone, YET, but just stating the facts
