I know. Just what we need, another Phibin thread. But given some of the strong anti-Philbin sentiment it paused me to wonder;

as a fan would you want the Dolphins to miss the playoffs so he would be fired or would you rather the Dolphins make the playoffs (at least 9-7) and he be retained?

I ask this because it seems to me there are fans who want him to fail. Or am I mistaken? Feel free to add other scenarios. That is why I did not create a poll. As for myself; I'll take the playoffs.

A fan of the Dolphins would want what's best for the team. People who put their hatred of Philbin above the success of the team are not fans.

I don't think anybody wants him to fail, we all want the team to succeed. But we know it will have to be in spite of Philbin

I don't want Philbin to fail and hatred is too strong a word to describe the overall sentiment. I think incompetent is more consistent with his limitations. Just like players, coaches have to grow and learn. For the sake of the Dolphins, both short and long term, I hope Philbin grows and has learned from past experiences. He may never be overly creative, but with Ross and the new front office we can be a perennial playoff team once again. Philbin must grow and improve himself.

You would have to be a retard to want the Dolphins to miss the playoffs. What kind of question is this???

Thinking a coach or player isn't very good does not equal "rooting for him to fail." That's just obnoxious rhetoric.

No, what we "feel is best for the team" is simply a better coach. It's not rocket science. If he suddenly learns how to be a good coach, I'll take it.

Philbin puts in a LOT of work, year round, to make this team as good as he possibly can. Come the end of 2015, did we make the playoffs? How far into the playoffs did we get? He's our coach.

Did we NOT make the playoffs? Goodbye Joe!

It really is that simple. But to hate, spite, or personally attack a man for doing his job as best he can...? Severe character issues.

I'm pretty tired of failing.
We've got good players in place, good contracts lined up thanks to some great GM work, an OC on the rise and a DC who may redeem himself.
Fins are on the rise from what I see, and I would have to imagine Joe is not taking this year lightly because of a Ross pat-on-the-back, he knows he has to perform to keep his job.

Philbin is a delegate'er, not a leader. Other then calling untimely timeouts, he does next to nothing.

I haven't seen anyone say they "hate" Philbin. I don't think he's an especially gifted or talented head coach, and I'd love to have seen him go his merry way at the end of last season, but I don't hate the man.

To be honest one of the worst scenarios for me, would be having an outstanding Offense but still getting out early in the playoffs. Then losing the only real talent we have at coach in Lazor while retaining Philbin. That would be a nightmare, and it will happen as soon as other team notice Lazors talent!

You worry about dumb things like that, it doesn't make sense. All of a sudden Lazor is a genius??? Haha, he hasn't proved a thing yet.
