It seems like we have forgotten how the Green Bay packers built themselves up to a Super bowl contender.. Primarily through draft... This is what Philbin will try to do.... With his conservative nature, I don't think he feels comfortable in signing flashy free agents, with his track record at GB, they stocked up as many draft picks as possible and slowly transformed their team through carefully selected draft picks just like the Patriots did... This franchise may not be operating on how you want it ... But give them some credit for following suit to their own plan and not giving into what the media or fan base wants. I'm really hoping that there is a higher plan that is in place that we cannot see just yet. But the point is, they're not going to run this franchise like Al Davis and sign the big sexy free agents to fill the seats, because when it comes down to it the only thing that will fill the stadium is W's!

agree!!!

Bamaphin 22, your post are why I still come on this site! Logic based and non emotional. I should not be surprise coming from a
Bama fan. Roll Tide brother.

whew! glad you posted 'the plan'. was worried that after his first few weeks with Ireland, it was more likely "find anus, insert thumb".

I had no idea that joe philbin, as offensive coordiantor of the green bay packers had anything to do with them building through the draft.

Fans have been over reacting big time.

Moore can play, with better coaching and decent WRs (hopefully), we'll be in every game.

I know you all love golden boy Peyton, but I never liked him and I loved when Marino used to school him back in the day. Yes he is a Hall of Famer but he won one Super Bowl - and if he came down here and sucked, we'd continue to be a laughing stock. I'd blitz the hell out his *** next year.

Our coaches know Flynn like you know your wife, they bled with him for years - they didn't want the guy so stop crying about it.

Alex Smith was never coming here unless Peyton went to San Fran. - he's a Cali guy, Cali guys usually stay in Cali.

Let's hope for a successful draft and at least a 3-3 start for once. 0-4 and 0-7 starts just kill the whole season.

Tebow will be starting for the Jets when they come to Miami (if they sign him), so get your tickets early because that stadium will be rocking that day, and the Fins will kick their ***.

Well said.

The problem is Philbin may not have all that much time to institute his plan. His fortunes may be tied to Ireland. A new GM may demand his own coach.

Give him a chance look what our x coach did
he went from offensive line coach to..........

see the big issue is that our team sucks at PR. Ross's heart is in the right place, but he shouldn't come out and publicly state half the things he's saying. Like during the coaching search he wanted a star coach, and we got Philbin. I like Philbin and feel he's qualified, but he ain't a star coach. That made the Fisher saga look so bad. He was so public in that Fisher was his guy that when the snag of final say became the issue things blew up in his face. Same with them saying they would make a splash in free agency, mainly because that goes against what Philbin wanted to do and what Ireland likes to do. Ireland made his bread and butter finding gems for Dallas (and IMO he has found good players for us, including begging Parcells to trade for Tony McDaniel).

Same with Ireland. Not that he says bad things, but he doesn't really talk to the media much and in a lot of cases silence is deafening.

Now with guys like Ryan Clark, Warren Sapp, and Jaime Dukes saying things it doesn't mean much. Clark has the reputation of sticking his nose in other teams business (see him calling people out when the Saints got caught on the bounty hits), and Sapp/Dukes, while entertaining, are not insiders.

And for the "Nobody wants to go to Miami" stick. We did sign a few guys, and while they aren't big names guys like David Garrard and Artis Hicks are some of the more respected people in the league. And for the guys we didn't sign (Eric Winston, Mark Anderson) it was reported WHEN they visited, Miami told them that they wanted to figure out the QB situation FIRST.

NOT defending anybody, especially since as a Communication student both the organization and media have done everything the wrong way this offseason from a news/PR standpoint (what I'm going to school for) and have really been unimpressive to me. Just pointing a few things out.

I am glad it has been decided that Philbin will be allowed to make all the picks in this year's draft, with Ireland out of the picture I know we will do better.

build drew the draft eh? but yet we go after old ass over the hill peyton? thats where you lose me right there. If we are trying to build to the draft we would not have pursued 3 free agent qbs that turned us down, time to face reality and just accept that players are putting miami as a last minute option incase they dont land a job somewhere else. I like joe philbin and have faith him but i just dont think he has any power in this organization other than coaching, which is why we got him and why jeff fisher avoided us, he has no power with personal moves, maybe an opinion but thats it.
