Philip Wheeler close to signing with the Dolphins?

He's pretty talented and still has upside. In the right program he might hit another level.

We can always use more bodies and he would probably beat out Misi.

This. Is he a superstar? no. Will he ever be a pro bowler? probably not. But he DOES have a chance to come in and compete with Misi. If he doesn't, you have to imagine he would be a better back up than Spitler. Any improvement is an improvement

This would be an OK signing but I would rather have somebody like Lawson, who can really stifle TE's productivity.

Maybe Wheeler comes to Miami and really excels? Who knows. As of right now he is a better option then Misi, so we need to sign him.

The Dolphins have been looking for a veteran linebacker that can compete with Misi, with Philip Wheeler still a top target. “We would like to see Misi emerge a little more and be more productive and make more impact plays,” Philbin said. “He has played very well at the point of attack.” Wheeler tweeted Tuesday: "I think I'm taking my talents to South Beach. Not sure yet, though." As of Tuesday afternoon, he had not agreed to terms, but that could happen at any point.

Good way of looking at it. But like someone else just mentioned, it'd be great to get Lawson. But I won't throw a fit if we sign Wheeler.

Muss, there are signings that are necessary to improve your team´s depth...Should one of your starting LBs go down, signings like these are what make a team still go forward, and push guys like 2nd rder Misi to excell, or become expendable. Not a flashy, but a solid addition. Just remember also that signing superstars in FA almost allways requires ample cap room, especially with the new CBA, it´s the contract they look forward to...
