sorry to make a thread about this but just wondering, says he had a sack, can anyone confirm this???

o and props to goodman and jones having big days in the secondary

Goodman had a big day. Jones just got a pick. His day wasn't big though.

im pretty sure starks got the sack that was credited to Merling, which should get readjusted in the stats later this week.

Did Joey P play today? I see no tackles, no sacks? I heard Crowder was out, but was Porter?

We had three sacks: Jones, Merling, Roth...one each.

merling got his at 2nd to last play of game....as far as jones goes, he had a key pick w/ the chiefs driving and another sack....thats three in 2 games...

Porter was quiet . . . he has gotta be more of a presence early . . . but once again late, u can tell he was putting more pressure on Thigpen. We are going to need him this upcomming Sunday.

I look for Merling to have a much better season in 2009...I'm not sure he's fully recover yet from his injurie but he's got great potential...I think he's gonna be a fine player for us for years to come.

Ozzy rules!!

if i am not mistaken, he got a sack with J.Porter. At first i couldnt see who were the 2 players who sacked thigpen, but then i saw it was merling.

jones is good at coming in on the blitz, and yes he had a pick, but i would not say he had a big day in the secondary... he gave up many a big play in coverage... his coverage skills definitely make me believe that J. Allen had sex with Sparano's underage daughter or something...

but hey in the end we won... and we're playing for the AFC east title next week! woot

The defense needs to play lights out football this sunday for us to win. we need to play like our lives depend on it.

The turf was frozen.. it was hard for the defense on both teams to get a good pass rush.. Porter was dbl teamed too allot. In the end we won the game... thats more important to me that Porters stats.

Agreed. I also still wonder if he's even at the proper position in our 3-4 D. Coming out of school he was around 275, but after hernia surgery went up to 290. In Jeff Ireland's post draft presser, he referred to Merling as an edge rusher, and even worked out with the OLB a few times in practice, which leads me to believe he might end up battling Roth for the SOLB spot when all's said and done.

Adding a guy like Chris Canty through FA or a guy like Tyson Jackson in the draft would make this move possible without sacrificing depth.
