ckparrothead, since when has arm strength been a knock against Rivers? The only negative I've constantly heard is his sidearm throwing motion. In fact, I thought he impressed a lot of people in the Senior Bowl with his deep passes, and that's why his stock rose so much in the draft. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly though?

Actually I think you are correct. His stock did rise after the Senior Bowl. Even then he was projected as a 2nd rounder but for some reason, about a month before the draft he was hyped up to the mid-low 1st round......then all of a sudden he was projected as a top 10 pick about a week or 2 before the draft.

I don't care whether it's Rivers, Brees or someone we draft in the first round, but we need to do SOMETHING! Our QB situation right now is just not working. We need to pick a highly-touted young guy and roll the dice on him.

If Rivers is available next offseason we'd be the worst organization in the NFL if we didnt go after him. Hey if they want too much in return or the contract isnt workable so be it. Move on. Theres not even the slightest bit of a question that he's on another level talent wise than Feeley or Frerotte. I really liked Rivers coming out of college, I liked Brees alot also so SD definetly is in a win win situation with both of those guys.
Man why does our organization waste time with misfits and castoffs? Have the gonads to draft someone with a good draft pick and develop them. When was the last time we drafted a Qb high, Marino? That was what 22 years ago? Yea we gave up a 2nd for Feeley but that was an act of sheer stupidity by a GM who was out of his league. Saban needs to draft a Qb early or trade for someone like Rivers or he is going to be back in college in 4 years. Theres simply no chance to consistantly win in the NFL without quality Qb play.
