Last year, there were 18 4-3 OLB in the NFL who played half of the team's snaps. As per PFF, Wheelsr was ranked dead last overall, 17 of 18 vs the run, and 15 of 18 in coverage. His somewhat only thing he did well was the pass rush at #3. Not anywhere near enough to make up for an absolutely horrible year.
In 2012, there were 26 4-3 OLB who played half the team's snaps. Wheeler was ranked #6 overall, #15 (average) vs the run, #5 in coverage, and #3 in pass rush.
To compare him to Mayo, who we all know, in 2012. mayo was #2 overall, #2 vs the run, #5 in coverage (tie), and #4 in the pass rush.
I have to think that this would be the fist time ever that the entire forum agreed with PFF on Wheeler being the worst last year.
However, I wonder how many will agree with their ranking for 2012, when he played the other side in Oakland, when he was actually good.
I'm hoping to see the guy from 2012, and IF so everyone will be happy. We shall see.
