I really hated this signing in the beginning and really tried letting him pan out in our defense. I thought okay well maybe the Dolphins know he's not a very good instinctual linebacker and have an good idea how to use him fundamentally within the system and will be able to hide his flaws.

I give up, you cant play linebacker in this league without being able to to tackle. the play I couldnt stop watching was the 3 & 5 when we had a chance to stop buffalo with a littel under 3 minutes left Wheeler gets to Fred Jackson before the first down marker and doesnt even extend his arms he just runs into jackson with his shoulder and gets destroyed while barely knocking jackson out of his stride. Some linebackers can get away with this, those linebackers however do not have the stregnth and tackling ability of a cornerback.

THE WORST part of this for me is how he was supposed to be good in pass coverage, he's barely even serviceable in it.

bottom line a player who is not instinctual nor a good tackler will not succeed in this league.

Have a good day at work everyone!

Wheeler was never i repeat never any good in coverage . What he did or susposedly bring to the table was explosiveness in the blitz packages. Which Burnette did not have.

he's awful...terrible contract...no instincts...zero none nada...sucks that we got that at weakside backer for the next 2 years probably...hasn't filled a easy key read off tackle run play for the tackle at the los since he got here...lost in zone coverage...

Nah, this is what happened. Wheeler was ALWAYS clearly a downgrade in pass coverage from both Burnett and Dansby . . . however people fabricated things about the latter 2 to make it seem like this was a good signing because Wheeler was younger, quicker and a decent blitzer. Truth is, people barely saw the guy play and didn't know what they were truly getting out side of a stat line but I remembered the guy from his Georgia Tech days and knew where his liabilities were.

Truthfully I didn't like Wheeler or Ellerbe signing to be honest but Ellerbe made pretty good impression on me during the preseason, liked some of the instincts I saw and how active he was up front. Both guys are god awful in coverage though but of course being the Dolphin fan I am I gave "they are better fits for Coyle's system" theory a chance.

The funniest thing about it is, people had their chest out when Wheeler sacked Luck to end the game like that was the play that made Jeff Ireland look like a genius for switching linebackers. One play doesn't make or break anybody and Wheeler has been a tremendous liability pretty much all over the field. Dansby with that torn triceps and Burnett mop the floor up with that dude.

People just didn't like Dansby, because of his mouth, I honestly don't know what they had against Burnett. Solid player IMHO. I don't know about this whole pressure scheme we are trying to run but it looks lousy without a healthy Cam Wake.

Saints just waived their 2011 72nd overall pick, LB Martez Wilson. wouldn't hurt to see what he can do. even for just depth...

a few saints fans are upset with the move. they waived him to sign a practice squad QB up. lol

If Ellerbe is healthy. could we see Trunsik or Jenkins push Wheeler for time on the field...

We know what PS QBs can do.

Our LB/SS production is hurting us more than our o-line production, imo.

Jones has not played well at all this season.....

The run defense is finally turning around, but the LB's have not played well as a whole

wilson is a pass rusher...nice edge tools...wonder why they let go...must be off the field...kids talented...i would definitely look into that

100% correct. He was a rush/ hand-in-the-dirt LB at Georgia Tech who would be much better suited for a 3-4 Defense.
