Phillips a good fit for Dolphins' other first-round pick

Should the Dolphins draft Kenny Phillips if he's still on the board?

  • Definitely - he's a surefire NFL star

  • Nope - he is not at the level of guys like Reed or Taylor

My friends and I have lamented the Dolphins' lack of faith in local football talent (high school and "The U") so I figured I would revisit the topic in terms of going after Kenny Phillips (if he slips to 32):

If he's still on the board, should the Dolphins snatch him up?

Definitely maybe...

We need db help, but also a lot of other help. So it depends on who's still on the board, and that far down it's really hard to predict.

Do we take Phillips at #32? I guess a lot will depends on what we do in free agency and if Parcells and Ireland thinks he is worthy of the pick. If we bring in Keith Davis then that will lesson the need for someone like Kenny.

Phillips had a subpar junior year and that might hurt his stock so what he does over the next seven weeks could determine where he is drafted and by whom.

I do agree that the Dolphins have not drafted enough players from the "U"

I think at 32 there's going to be a lot of DB talent available. Given that, it should be BOA, not a love affair with local talent.

if he's there at the "32nd" pick of the draft i say we get him no questions asked, but with that said i believe he will be picked anywhere between 16-21 though.

I think he'd be a wonderful addition for us but if there's any chance B.Albert or D.Conner would still be around then I'd prefer to go with one of them. Now if we still picked Phillips I won't shed any tears, we need help EVERYWHERE. I do strongly believe there will be top end talent available with our pick. J.Barrett as a SS really interests me somewhere in the 4th hopefully.

i wouldn't mind seeing Kenny Phillips be picked by us and just stay in Miami....the state of Florida produces alot of talent that Miami just lets go instead of getting them...i think it's time we started looking in our own backyards at the talent that's out there instead of picking from out of state.

If one of those top 6'1 CBs are not there at 32, then yes, phillips would be nice.
at 32 i want one of those tall CBs, phillips, then hardy. Any of those 3 would make me real happy

I definatly wouldnt mind it... but there are other players I would prefer at that spot...

He's the best safety in the draft if you don't consider Mike Jenkins a safety prospect.

I imagine one of the top 31 teams will choose a safety, and if that's the case Phillips is the pick.

He won't be there for us.

I think there will be better options available.

phillips = extremely underrated.

people say he struggled last year, but they don't realize he was asked to play a lot of CB in man-to-man situations. he wasn't playing his natural position.

Phillips may not be the playmaking type safety, in the mold of sean taylor and ed reed. But he will be an extremely solid player, there is not a 'bust' factor with him. He can contribute immediately.

I'm a huge Canes fan and I like Phillips a lot but I think we need more help at corner than safety and this draft has a few good corners coming out. We should go after one of them first.
