Hard to imagine this with a new coaching staff and Ireland at GM but maybe Ross really wants the team to be featured to help bring in excitement/optimism. According to Miami Heralds Barry Jackson the Phins are one of a handful of teams.

"This is different. We’re happy with what’s going on.’” And this is the first time I’ve been able to have my imprint on the team. I inherited an awful lot of what Wayne [Huizenga] did.”… The Dolphins are among a handful of teams that have been receiving consideration to appear on HBO’s Hard Knocks training camp series."

there are certainly a lot of interesting stories in our camp this year. Plus any oppurtunity to see more of mrs. tannehill is a plus in my book.

I honestly don't think this distraction is a good idea. Hard Knocks belongs on a recent playoff team's camp. Not with a team that is installing a new offense and defense. This distraction may hurt our team's development this year.

Not under this FO 1st season! It's too early for such a spot light

I think Hard Knocks is EXACTLY what this teams needs. Some spotlight. Some recognition other than just the fans that post on finheaven. I mean, theres Dolphins fans everywhere. But they either cant express their fandom due to distance, the areas that they live in, or my personal favorite the current state of the team(garbage). What better outlet then to give your fans a closer look at their favorite players, or training camp battles, or just the joy of seeing their team on TV.....at all!

I think this would be great for the Dolphins!

To be honest I have absoloutely no problem with this. There is nothing wrong with trying to clear up our public image, and I honestly thing it would do wonders for the fan base and other fan's/analysts perception of us. It's not like its going to be a distraction in the regular season either.

I think Hard Knocks would be horrible for this team. A young team with a rookie head coach. It would just be edited to make the Fins look like idiots and then parrotted continually throughout the league by the idiot brigrade led by the likes of Mike Florio and James Walker. It would be looked at like a total Ross idea.

Would be cool but the jets have already agreed with hbo to do this season

I would definitely watch, but I am hoping the Dolphins don't do it. Would rather this new coaching staff not have to deal with the extra pressure.

sorry i live in NJ so this would be awesome for me and I can't think of a better year. we get to see Qb's competing, no name wideouts, a safety battle, progression of some of our core guys like vontae and smith... battles for the guard spots ect ect... see what our new coach is really like right off the bat. se what shermans got cooking and coyle as well... finally we can see the great JULIUS PRUITTTT!!! (/sarcasm)

This is a rumor that spread and seems to be incorrect. Mike T spoke on the air a couple weeks ago and stated the team has not been offered the spot. Doesn't mean they won't, besides teams wouldn't still be rejecting HBO if they had a deal in place.
