What possible situation for an NFL team could be more critical and daunting than entering into your first mini camp as HC and not have a starting QB?

Green aint comin to Miami because KC still needs him...too bad but he'll be the veteran backup to Huard or Croyle but a phin he wont be, not for a 6th or 5th.

That leaves Miami with a big ? at QB, the most important single position on the team.

I wont be surprised to see Lemon start the season, Miami struggling early, and quickly seeing Beck in to get him exposure during a "rebuilding" year.

C Pep isnt anywhere near ready based on his current activity and participation, regardless of hope expressed on this board.

Miami is in big trouble folks!

Kc can't afford to keep him! Not when they just resigned Huard to a decent contract. Green will make too much to be a backup.

KC has already said that Green will be their starter come opening day if he is still on the roster. They can very easily cut Huard (just like the dolphins will cut Culpepper if the get green).

yeah I wonder how much of that is actually true or not. I don't trust a word this Petersen says. He is just holding out til we give up a pick that he wants.

It's fine, we can get Huard, who outperformed Green anyways. We just need a stopgap. But I think it's likely Green.

Thats not true they never said that he would be the starting QB they said it would be an open compition and who won the spot would be the starting QB opening day

I'm OK with or without Green.

The Phins are going to eventually go with the younger Lemon or Beck.

Both guys are going to have to go through some growing pains but have tremendous upside.

I'm not worried at all. It's just about impossible for the Phins offense to be worse than last year.

GO PHINS~!

All three quarterbacks on Miami's current roster are better than the quarterback that started 11 games for the team in 2006. In my book, that means we're already ahead of the game at that position as it relates to the 6-10 season a year ago. The tests will be whether the offensive line improves, whether Ronnie steps up with more responsibility in Cameron's system, whether Cameron remains committed to the ground game like he was in San Diego, and whether the defense keeps the same bite and sting that it had in 2006 (specifically looking for improvement in pass rush consistency, improvement in the secondary).

If all of those things happen, you can damn well bet Miami is better than 6-10, and probably a lot better.

Well stated. I believe the Phins offense has nowhere to go but up. It's virtually impossible to be as bad as they were last year for a second year in a row.

Yes it is. They have said it several times. If he is on the roster he is their starter. Peterson said he is still the chiefs starting qb. If they dont get a 4th rounder then they will keep him as their starter and probably cut Huard.

Ha I hope you arent serious. Damon Huard is a career back up who had a very good few games last season. Scott Mitchell ring a bell?

I agree. Huard is a solid backup but I wouldn't want to count on him.

I think will come down to how Daunte looks in this minicamp. If he still cant move or have any explosion the Fins may upgrade their offer on Green to a 4th. If not it comes down to Beck. Lemon is not the answer and Beck is the future regardless.:ninja:

I don't think "movement" was Daunte's problem. It was his decision making more than anything. If that suddenly gets better than maybe he'll have a shot at sticking with the team.

As for your comments on Lemon, I wouldn't discount him so quickly. Lemon performed well vs. a Colts team and defense that was playing very good when we met up with them last year. If he could build on that he could end up starting for us this year.

Wow. Naive much? They tell the man that he has to compete in training camp with Croyle and the newly contract extended Huard and that he has to take a paycut or shop himself around........and yet he's their automatic starter? Don't think so brah.

Apparently you missed class when they taught posturing. Peterson blew his wad when he told Green to shop himself. At that point everyone on the planet knew he was expendable, especially given that they drafted Croyle before and gave Huard the extension. What team would invest 12 million in a season on QB's? Logic here please.
