'You hear the offensive guys saying, `This is the best quarterback I've ever played with.' Well, that's true,'' defensive end Vonnie Holliday said. ``We've got a guy now that is a bona fide veteran quarterback that can lead our offense and lead our team. It's huge.''

''He has motivated the receiving corps a whole lot because we now know we've got veteran leadership that has taken over the huddle,'' receiver Derek Hagan said. ``He wants us to get in and watch film with him, and that's something we've been missing from the quarterback position.
``That's not to say the other quarterbacks haven't been doing a great job, but this guy came in, and the whole offense's demeanor just changed.''

Great article. These parts jumped out at me.

Good stuff. I'm stoked to hear about this so I'm sure the players are excited to see this kind of leadership and professionalism as well. Can't wait for the season to start. Only one more week.

I don't get this, all this praise for Pennington from our players...and the jets let this guy go....why????If he was so good why even make a play for farve and his high contract?? Or the fact that he got traded light a fire under his a$$.

Because the jets think they have a better chance of winning the superbowl with farve and the only way to trade for him is releasing pennington but their loss is our gain and im really glad it happened i mean we have one of the smartest qbs playing well and showing henne how to be a good qb but penny might be our qb for the next 2 years if he keeps it up.

for the first time in years we actually seem to have comradery in the locker room. Its good to see the guys banding togather because the world is truely against us so all they got is each other. Its sink or swim so i guess its a good thing our logo is a dolphin

Penny has always been able to get his guys suppot and motivated , ala Coles still not talking to the media because of Chad's release. The players loved him, Tangini did too, however they were getting pressure to win now (or lose their jobs) so now they spend 130 million dollars on the off season to acquire the players they needed, then along came the opportunity to get a HOF QB, who has brought the fans back out, the media is going crazy, and who has already sold over 50,000 jerseys at 200 bucks a piece, this does not included the tickets, blankets, bobblehead dolls, etc..... so they pay this new guy 12 million a year and the 6 millon that you are already giving to yur current qb needs to go fast. Since everyone knows this, they wont offer anything up for a trade and they just figure they will bid for him. Well when Penny is released, he played hurt last year and played terrible. Different teams want him but Penny wants the best opportunity to start, here comes the Phins, no real staring QB, Penny likes it, BP sees it, and he's here.

... of course he's the best QB any of them have played with... most of them have only played with rookies and scrap heap guys... remember how young this team is...

Remember these guys played with Cleo Lemon last year - of course Chad is the best they played with.

I believe it's more the fact that Pennington talks with his receivers....gets them to be on the same page....and we can add the fact that we have real coaches for once.

In my opinion...the Jets screwed up...they are playing for this season...you can easily see that with all the Vets moves they have made. So far they haven't played any better with Favre than they did with Pennington...did they give up on Pennington too early...did they not give him enough time to heal? Pennington's throws have been strong and accurate...and just importantly...on time. He could be the steal of the off-season.

And dont forget Penny is out to prove week one that his former team made a bad choice i releasing him.

The touchdown pass to Fasano was the most impressive throw i have seen all preseason. I don't think any of the other QB's would have made that throw. Chad threw the ball a full 2 steps before Fasano made his cut to the inside and once he turned the ball hit him in the numbers and he never broke his stride. It was perfect throw. It was also 100% done on timing.

This is what Pennington brings to the table. Plays like that just don't happen with an inexperience QB!!

WE still have a LOng Long way to go to be a contender but this was an impressivce step in the right direction!!!

And he's only been here 2 weeks. We keep talking about Zach going elsewhere to get a ring and JT going elsewhere to get a ring. Could you imagine Pennington coming here and getting one? Obviously a pipe dream, but could you imagine the hate Jet fans would have for if that happened?? It would be just too funny.

Anyways, I just can't wait for the hate to consume this board when he has a bad game. Lets try to remember he's only human folks, he's gonna have bad games, I hope we can just maintain calm when he does. It's a long season.

You are very correct sir. Lets hope we have more good than bad, this season...but lets not forget the Dolphins are a rebuilding franchise.
