Well now we have eight number 2 or slot recivers on the roster.
And that's the typical Green Bay West Coast offense. Go back to Mike Holmgren's staff in 1996. The monumental collection of coaching talent that fell off that tree has been pretty consistent in their philosophy about WRs. Every now and then they will have an elite WR1. But for the most part, it relies on disciplined WRs that run great routes and execute. They don't have "me" players at WR. They work as a unit.
Honestly, the WCO maximizes our existing talent at WR and helps us moving forward by devaluing the elusive WR1 that always comes with baggage. I'm kinda glad we have a bunch of WR2's in this system.
When we hired Philbin, I felt great. I wanted him as a caoch. And, at first, I wanted Flynn. But I am more interested in us getting a great QB that fits us. I don't care how we get him. I don't care if Matt Moore becomes him.
I just know that the QB is the single most important piece in this WCO. But not like Peyton Manning important. Now, it's more about everyone doing their job. And not just relying on one or two guys to carry the load.
Unless we get a great QB, most fans outside of Phinland won't be able to list most of our players by name. And honestly, the way we draft it's for the better. We are probably one of the most boring teams to watch on draft day. We are the "UnSexy".
